Garry Chernoff Chalks Up a Half-Million Dollar Sale to Lead This Week's Top 20 Chart

Garry Chernoff, one of the pioneers of the domain investment business, has booked another blockbuster sale. Just after we started putting this week's column together this morning Garry let us know he had sold Drink.com for $500,000 in a deal brokered by Darryl Lopes and Jason White through the DomainNameSales.com platform. In addition to topping this week's all extension Top 20 Sales Chart that also ranks among the dozen highest sales reported so far this year

We also saw documentation of another six-figure sale this week involving a 3-letter .com that went for $150,000 in a deal handled by Domainer.com.au's Ned O'Meara. Unfortunately we can't chart that one due to a non disclosure agreement but the amount made it worth noting as another example of how hot that category remains. In fact two of the top four chart entries are other 3-letter .coms.

In front of those was an $80,000 sale of #2 Tonic.com handled by Dave Evanson at Sedo. Then came #3 KJZ.com at $65,000 in a deal handled by Giuseppe Graziano at GGRG.com and #4 LHT.com at $55,005 via SnapNames.com. Rounding out the first five were a pair of Sedo sales at $42,400 each - Farma.com and the week's biggest ccTLD sale in Shoop.de.

By Ron Jackson

Sedo went on to pile up 16 of the 20 chart entries including the only non .com gTLD to make the elite list - #10 Verity.org at $16,500. Sedo also put two more country code domains on the Big Board - #17 Slots.nu at $8,940 and #20 NRG.co.za at $7,975

Everything else went to .com - 16 of 20 positions overall, including a second entry from SnapNames - #11 Coba.com at $14,110. Here is how the sales leaders stacked up for the week ending Sunday, Nov. 29, 2015:

Keep in mind that these are the highest value cash only sales that have been reported to us in the past week. This column is meant to be an educational tool, not a complete list documenting ALL high value domain sales. Such a list is impossible to produce because many sales are kept private at the insistence of buyers, sellers or both. Country Codes

The ccTLDs were led by one of the year's 10 biggest sales to date in this category - Shoop.de at $42,400 via Sedo (it is ranked #9 on our YTD Top 100 ccTLD Sales Chart - the second chart on this page). You saw the week's top three sales from this group on the all extension leader board at the top of this report so the highest sale in this category that you haven't seen yet is #4 on this week's Country Code Top 20 Sales Chart. That is Sonnet.ca, a name that Sedo sold for $5,500.

Bet.pt rounded out the first five at $5,300, also through Sedo. They wound up sweeping 18 of the 20 chart entries. The lone exceptions were the UnicDomains.com sale of #9 Approved.ca at $3,600 and the $2,543 sale of Primo.at at Golem.eu

Germany's .de won the extension race with five chart entries. Only three other TLDs had multiple chart entries as Canada's .ca, Great Britain's .co.uk and Spain's .es each had two. Here is how the country code leaders stacked up for the week ending Sunday, Nov. 29:

Non .com gTLDs (.net, .org, .biz, .info & others, including new gTLDs)

The Non .Com gTLDs were led by the category's lone five-figure sale, Verity.org, at $16,500 via Sedo. They wound up sweeping every chart entry thanks to 22 3-letter .net sales they booked at $4,800 apiece. Those all tied for the #3 position, a step behind #2 CDMP.org at $5,000

The unprecedented run we have seen Chinese buyers make on short acronym domain recently shifted to the .net extension driving typical prices on 3-letter .nets up as much as four times higher than they were just a few weeks ago.

Of course, all of those 3-letter .net sales gave the .nets an easy win in the extension race, taking 22 of the 24 entries. Here's how all of the Non .Com gTLD leaders stacked up for the week ending Sunday, Nov. 29:
