Pair of 3-Letter .Com Sales Totaling Nearly Half a Million Dollars Top This Week's Chart

I was away last week for a family vacation in Seattle so this week I'll be sharing all of the sales data that has come in to us since my last report two weeks ago. As has been the case so often over the years, 3-letter .coms led the charge with two huge sales that tower over our latest all extension Top 20 Sales Chart. Larry Fischer from GetYourDomain.com stands at the top of the hill after brokering a $300,000 sale of EEN.com for the owners of the Anything.com portfolio. That is also one of the 10 biggest sales reported so far in 2018.

URW.com completed a nice one-two punch for the 3-letter.coms with that name changing hands for $195,000 in a private transaction. Two more 3-letter .coms landed on the top half of the leader board - and also illustrated what an extraordinarily broad range of prices these popular acronym domains sell for. #5 IXA,com went for $29,500 while #10  NQI.com sold for $15,000 (just 5% of the price paid for EEN.com), with Sedo booking both of those sales. In the end it comes down to how badly a particular buyer wants a specific acronym, how deep their pockets and the price the domain owner is willing to settle for.

By Ron Jackson

.Coms went on to sweep 15 of the 20 chart entries including the #3 spot filled by the $40,000 sale of HumanAbility.com at MichaelMann's DomainMarket.com. FatCityProperties.com also helped the .com cause with their $10,000 sale for #15 (tie) KilleenHomes.com. Sedo gets the most credit though, ringing up 11 .com sales and 15 chart entries overall.

Sedo's haul included four of the five non .com sales, including the highest one - #4 NX.de at $39,318 - a sale that also ranks among the five biggest ccTLD sales reported so far this year (the YTD ccTLD Top 100 chart is the second chart on the page linked to).

Sedo also had the week's biggest non .com gTLD sale with a new gTLD, #6 BroadwayTickets.nyc at $25,000. They tacked on $14,868 for #13 OnDemand.net and $10,000 for #15 (tie) Architects.net. The .GLOBAL Registry gave the new gTLDs a second spot on the Big Board (and the non .com gTLDs a 4th) with their $11,500 sale of #14 Global.global.

This column is meant to be an educational tool, not a complete list documenting ALL high value domain sales. Such a list is impossible to produce because many sales are kept private at the insistence of buyers, sellers or both. The non .com gTLDs were led by that quartet of five-figure sales you saw in the all extension section at the top of this report with Sedo's $25,000 sale of BroadwayTickets.nyc setting the pace. The biggest sales in this group that you haven't seen yet are a pair of new gTLDs that tied for #5 on our latest weekly Non .Com gTLD Top 20 Sales Chart. Those were Forum.global and Innovation.global at $9,000 each via the .GLOBAL Registry.
