Packet.com Puts Eye Popping Payday in Braden Pollock's Pocket -  Places 1st on Our Weekly Top 20 Domain Sales Chart

Peter Piper may have picked a peck of pickled peppers but what he got for them was peanuts compared to what Braden Pollock pocketed for parting with Packet.com at a cool $350,000. The Legal Brand Marketing founder actually closed the sale in September but had to wait for a 90-day NDA to expire before he could let us know about it. The domain is now the home of a rapidly growing tech company that says it provides "physical infrastructure at global scale." In addition to giving Braden the top spot on our latest weekly all extension Top 20 Sales Chart, the Packet.com sale also ranks among the 20 biggest sales reported so far this year.

James Booth at BQDN.com also had a lot to be happy about this week after posting two 3-letter .com sales totaling $175,000. He closed #2 ORE.com at $100,000 and added $75,000 for NTD.com.

Sedo filled the #4 hole with Lofis.com at €55,000 ($62,700) and went on to pile up 15 of the 21 chart entries overall (the extra spot resulted from a tie for the final position). Sedo's haul included all four of the ccTLDs on the Big Board including the country code leader, #6 Pro.de at €25,000 ($28,500).

By Ron Jackson

With the .coms sweeping 16 of 21 chart entries that left just one spot for the non .com gTLDs that went to Michael Mann's  DomainMarket.com for its $29,888 sale of #5 Responsible.org. DomainMarket claimed two other spots as well, helping the .com cause with #11 (tie) BettyBingo.com at $15,000 and #13 LaCasaDeLasFlores.com at $12,500.

A programming note for you before we go to this week's chart. With Christmas falling in the middle of next week and New Year's Day the week after, Sedo and some of the other major sales venues (whose offices will be closed or minimally staffed) have already told us they will not be issuing sales data again until the week of January 6-12. So our next report will not be out until Wednesday evening, January 9, 2019 when we will resume our normal weekly publication schedule with a column covering all sales reported between now and then.

Now here's a look at how this week's sales leaders stacked for the week ending Sunday, December 16, 2018:

Keep in mind that these are the highest value cash only sales that have been reported to us in the past week. This column is meant to be an educational tool, not a complete list documenting ALL high value domain sales. Such a list is impossible to produce because many sales are kept private at the insistence of buyers, sellers or both. The biggest sale in this category that you haven't seen yet is #5 on our latest weekly Country Code Top Sales Chart. That is Sedo's $5,700 sale of VOU.se

Sedo went on to sweep every position on the leader board except one. That was Buzzoo.com's $5,000 sale of #7 Tengo.co via Epik.

Germany's .de scored an easy win in the extension, piling up seven chart entries. No other TLD had more than two. Here is how the top ccTLD sales stacked up for the week ending Sunday, December 16, 2018:

Non .com gTLDs (.net, .org and others, including new gTLDs)

It looks like the Non .com gTLDs started their holiday break early as only four sales were reported in this category. At least the leader, DomainMarket's sale of Responsible.org at $29,888, was a big one. That sale ranks among the year's 20 biggest sales in this category.

The next highest sales were also .orgs with brokers and GoDaddy and Uniregistry helping Media Code sell SmartSociety.org for $5,000 while Sedo moved WellbeingAlliance.org for $5,000.
