Two New Six-Figure Sales Top This Week's Domain Sales Chart and Neither Are .Coms

We've grown so accustomed to seeing .coms at the top of the chart each week it's always a little surprising when they aren't there. Especially surprising when the top three sales are all non .coms, including the two six-figure sales at the top. More surprising still because this week's report covers the past two weeks worth of sales since I was away last week covering the 2020 NamesCon Global conference in Austin, Texas - more than enough time for the usual .com cream to rise to the top. I'm not suggesting it's the start of a new trend, just that it gives non .com gTLD and ccTLD fans something rare  to celebrate this week.

Leading the way is a $125,000 sale of Live.chat by Donuts. That as good an example as you will ever see of a new gTLD domain that makes perfect sense and has high value despite the new extensions still working on getting over the public recognition hurdle.

The next two spots went to a pair of ccTLD sales at Sedo. They rang up $122,788 for Spanish domain Apuestas.es ("bets" in Spanish) then banked another $68,750 for French domain Chauffage.fr ("heater" in French). That is a heck of a day at the country code office! Sedo made it three of the top four sales for them by also posting the $65,000 sale of #4 BitcoinPoker.com

By Ron Jackson

Uniregistry then went on a torrid run, piling up the next eight chart entries in a row. They went on to  take 10 spots overall. All 10 of the Uni sales were .com sales, helping the world's most popular extension overcome their slow start by sweeping 15 of 20 places overall.

The ccTLDs claimed three places overall with Sedo's $15,600 sale of #16 CSA.co completing the ccTLD trifecta. The non .com gTLDs filled two slots, with another Sedo sale, #13 BusinessClass.net at $19,072 joining Live.chat to complete a solid one-two punch for that group.

Here's how all of the sales leaders stacked up for the two weeks ending Sunday, February 2, 2020:

Keep in mind that these are the highest value cash only sales that have been reported to us in the past week. This column is meant to be an educational tool, not a complete list documenting ALL high value domain sales. Such a list is impossible to produce because many sales are kept private at the insistence of buyers, sellers or both.  (2003 to Now)

There were 15 more five-figure sales off the chart, led by Sedo's $14,985 sale of Cadfem.com. They added $13,310 for BOIX.com, $12,100 for HZA.de, $11,000 for Barkada.com and $10,000 for MODR.com.

Uniregistry rang up nine more sales at this level, led by Carriere.com at $13,850. EQIP.com captured $12,500 more, Stemz.com corralled $11,760 and USVet.com commanded $11,000. Five others - Audiate.com, TheWaller.io , Sulcus.com, Swich.com and FastFilters.com- went for $10,000 each. A side note here - I have been buying refrigerator filters online for years from a company called FiltersFast.com. When I saw the FastFilters.com sale,  I thought "they must have bought it."  Turns out they did - FastFilters.com now forwards to FiltersFast.com, eliminating a lot of confusion the company must have dealt with over the years.

Elsewhere, Joseph Ciprut sold ileri.com for $11,000 in a private transaction. While "ileri" means "forward" in Turkish, the buyer wanted it because that is also his family's surname. He told Joseph, "I bought the domain name as a generational asset to eventually pass on to my children." That's a guy who understands the value of domain names!

.Com Supporting Cast

The .com supporting cast was led by an unusual IDN domain. In fact I cannot even get the symbols to render properly in full size. It consists of three consecutive Bengali characters that looks like eights:  ৪৪৪If that is not confusing enough for you, those symbols actually translate to the numeral 4! So it looks like 888.com but actually translates to 444.com. That must all make sense to someone because they paid $9,999 for it at Sedo.

For those who tastes aren't quite so exotic, Sedo also moved Workzilla.com for $9,900 and two others - AdvancedDirectives.com and VerifiedProviders.com - for $9,880 apiece. Hermit.com and Manora.com made $9,000 each and MutualFederal.com fetched $8,999. OneVIP.com drew $7,350, SurveySites.com secured $7,000 and Copperman.com clicked for $6,492.

Also at Sedo, AmbientGreen.com brought $5,850 and Iyolo.com yielded $5,800. Sedo had 64 more four-figure sales ranging from $2,000 to $5,498 that are listed in the table below:

Deltour.com also crossed the line at $4,678.

Elsewhere, EmpireNames.com sold HealthAgent.com for $8,000.

Country Codes

The ccTLDs were, of course, led by the trio of sales you saw on the all extension leader board above with Sedo's giant sale of Apuestas.es leading the way at $122,788. The highest sale in the category that you haven't seen yet is #4 on our latest weekly Country Code Top 20 Sales Chart. That is also a Sedo sale - #4 HZA.de at $12,100.

Uniregistry's $10,000 sale of TheWallet.io rounded out the first five. They also sold #15 DomainNames.io at $5,000 but Sedo swept everything else - 18 of 20 entries overall.

Germany's popular .de scored a runaway win in the extension race with eight chart entries. No other TLD had more than three, the number logged by .io. Here is how the top ccTLD sales stacked up for the two weeks ending Sunday, February 2, 2020:
