GoDaddy Announces New Commission Rates for Aftermarket Platforms Afternic, Uniregistry and Dan

In a move to align sales commission rates across their popular aftermarket platforms, GoDaddy today announced new uniform rates that will apply to GoDaddy Auctions, Afternic, Uniregistry Market and Dan.com. Effective as of February 1, 2023, each marketplace is moving to a 15% commission rate for domain names pointed to Afternic, Dan, or Uniregistry nameservers at the time of the sale. If your domain name does not point to Afternic, Dan or Uniregistry nameservers, the commission charged will be 25%

Under the current structure, commissions ranged for a low of 9% (at Dan.com) to 20%. Dan.com has also offered a 5% rate for sellers who brought their own lead to the platform and that option will continue to be offered in the new system.

As a customer of all four platforms I received emails from each about the change today. The email from Afternic noted, "This new commission model rewards those choosing to do more of their business with Afternic, Dan, and Uniregistry Market by using any of our For Sale Lander options with a reduced commission on their sales, regardless of where it is sold.  For those already using our For Sale Landers, this will be a significant reduction in commissions versus the current 20% commission rate for the average sale."
