D3 Launches Frontier - New Membership Program Designed to Provide Priority Access to Names in Upcoming Top Level Domains

D3, the core contributor to Doma Protocol, officially launched an innovative new service called Frontier today at Korean Blockchain Week in Seoul. Frontier is a membership program that aims to provide priority access to highly sought keywords and terms in the next wave of new top level domain names (TLDs).

ICANN received over 1,600 applications to run new TLD registries before the 2026 round's application window closed last month, with new extensions expected to start going live in late 2027 or early 2028. This was the first opportunity to get a new TLD since the initial round was held 14 years ago. That 2012 wave attracted about 1,200 applications including TLDs that have now become familiar like .xyz, .app, .shop and .tech, to name just a few.

When new TLDs are launched, investors and developers try to land the best possible names in each extension. D3 created Frontier as a new avenue and faster path to acquiring those names.

Fred Hsu
Co-Founder and CEO of D3

Fred Hsu, Co-Founder and CEO of D3, noted, "The internet's address space expands about once a decade, and every expansion so far has priced itself using guesswork. The last round, in 2012, went to a small circle of insiders, and the extensions they launched are now part of everyday internet life. This time the door is open to everyone. Frontier lets people take their place in line years before these domains go live, instead of waiting on the sidelines."

To make that possible, Hsu said Frontier's program lets Members earn points through qualifying activity with supported third-party vault providers. Members can then delegate those points to specific domains to establish priority in line to purchase them ahead of general sale with no registry relationship or broker required.

The first vault is built on Solana, a major layer-1 blockchain with an extensive ecosystem of vault providers and infrastructure. Further vaults on other major chains, including Hyperliquid and Base, are to follow in the coming months. You can learn more at frontier.d3.com
