Today in The Lowdown: After a 6-year hiatus, the curtain went back up in India's DomainX conference August 30-31 in New Delhi. The shutdown was precipitated by the Covid pandemic in 2020 but with the global domain industry enjoying a rapid expansion and the popularity of new events like London's latest Domain Summit, this was a good time for the Indian domain community to step back into the spotlight.

Also inside: We've been talking about hot domain sales all summer and from the look of our latest bi-weekly all-extension Top 20 Sales Chart and autumn less than two weeks away, there is no sign they are about to cool down any time soon. The latest hit parade is led by a $300,000 .ai sale + a record-breaking .xyz sale and two 6-figure .com sales.

How a $3,000 Domain Sale Kept Larry Fischer in The Game and Led to a Legendary Career Filled With Multi-Million Dollar Deals

Mild-mannered domain industry pioneer Larry Fischer has played a key role in many of the biggest domain sales of all time, including Chat.com at $15.5 million and Home.com at a undisclosed price but also likely in the 8-figure range (both of those in tandem with Larry's friend and fellow super broker Andrew Miller). There have been countless others with Larry's primary partner, Ari Goldberger, as well solo sales from his base at GetYourDomain.com. As of this writing, Larry also has 2025's highest publicly reported domain sale of the year to date in Commerce.com at $2.2 million. So what is it about this easy going, unassuming guy - a real world Clark Kent - that turns him into Superman when it's time to close big sales? Full Story Here

The 2025 Domain Summit conference that ran September 2 & 3 in London had an entirely new look and a vastly expanded agenda compared to the three previous editions of the event. An all-star line of speakers was brought in to give the programming a Euro-centric focus. That was designed to position this year's show as the first in a new line of Summits to be held in different regions around the world. The next one will be Domain Summit Africa coming up in February in Nairobi, Kenya with plans also in the works for a 2027 conference in the United States. Domain Summit Founder Helmuts Meskonis credited three new global partners for making it possible to adopt this worldwide vision and kick it off with a re-imagined London event that showed everyone what they can expect going forward.   Full Story Here

The explosion of Bitcoin and other digital currencies made many early adopters wealthy but others wondered if Main Street would ever get on board. That question may have been answered with PayPal's announcement of a new service that will allow merchants to accept over 100 cryptocurrencies that can be converted into dollars. The mainstreaming of cryptocurrency is something well-known domain industry entrepreneurs Lars Jensen, Stevan Lieberman, Thomas Medard and Matheus Leite started working on over a year before PayPal's announcement when they teamed up to launch Nicky.me. Since then, their platform has offered a simple, secure, non-custodial crypto transactions platform on which anyone can receive crypto - and doing it with additional features that PayPal isn't likely to match.  Full Story Here
