Tops Trio of Six-Figure Sales in Big Week for the Domain Market
OK, recess is over! After taking a
rare "breather" last week, the domain market was back in
full stride this week, racking up three six-figure
blockbusters and two dozen solid five-figure sales. The penthouse suite on
our new Top 20 chart goes to RealEstate.net at a nifty
$300,000.
A new Australian company, Real
Estate.NETHoldings Pty Ltd, acquired the marquee domain
in a private transaction. The company was formed by a team that
operates Rooms.net and Local.net. The company said it
plans to extend its market reach and develop RealEstate.net into a
worldwide agent solutions network, focusing initially in the U.S.

The first completed deals from the recent Moniker.com
live auction at the Internext Expo in Las Vegas were
also announced this week and that event produced another six-figure
sale - BDSM.com at $295,000. Moniker/DomainSystems
also sold one - Yearbook.com at $237,500. Overall,
Moniker accounted for eight positions on the elite list (five from
their live auction) and had six of
the top ten, including #4 TeenModels.com at $80,000.
Sedo.com
had their usual strong performance, placing four domains on the Big
Board, including #6 MissRussia.com at $50,000. BuyDomains.com
charted three times enroute to a huge week that included three more five-figure sales just off the chart and hundreds
of solid four-figure sales. Their Name Media sister company, Afternic.com,
also had a nice outing with two charted domains, including #7 MyMag.com
at $48,888.
SnapNames.com
hit the top half of the chart with #10 Rumble.com at $31,283.
The final opening on the all extension list went
to #19 Newswires.com which was purchased by the owner of Macau.com
for $15,000 in a private transaction.
If it weren't for that .net in the
#1 position (a sale that is also the biggest to date in 2007),
.com would have swept the field this week. Here's a look at the complete
Top 20 for the week ending Sunday, Feb. 4:

Keep in mind that these are the highest
value sales that have been reported to us in the
past week. This column is meant to be an educational tool,
not a complete list documenting ALL high

because many sales are kept private at the insistence of
buyers, sellers or both.

Global Contenders
(.biz, .info, .mobi, .net & .org)
RealEstate.net was a runaway winner on
the Global Contenders chart this week. The $300,000
sale was not only the largest in the GC category so far this
year, it was biggest sale in any extension for 2007 to
date. .Net dominated the chart this week, sweeping 12
of 22 positions (there were two extra slots due to a three-way
tie for the
final position).
.Biz blossomed in the #2 spot thanks to
the $8,000 sale of Traffic.biz at Afternic. .Org
then stepped to the plate at #3, scoring the first of three
charted domains for that extension with IHO.org, sold
for $6,200 at BuyDomains. BuyDomains claimed 12 of the
22 entries to lead all venues.
.Mobi is still seeing steady activity
and put four names on the list, led by #9 iPoker.mobi,
a domain that went for $3,050 at Sedo. .Pro also
got on the board with #16 Photography.pro snapping $2,210
at Sedo. Here's how all of the GC top sellers stacked up for the week ending

had more than any other extension with five, including #4 WoodenToys.co.uk
at $4,388.
Seychelles country code .sc made
a rare chart appearance this week with the $7,000 sale
