Sales Cooled Off a Bit This Week But SnapNames and Sedo Kept the
Fire Burning
Severe winter storms swept through
the northern United States last week and it looks like some
of that chilly weather reached the domain market as well. Sales
cooled off with the top reported transaction hitting just $30,000
(for CostaRicaHotel.com at SnapNames.com).
Though the dollar figures were down a bit, someone did remember to
turn on the heat at SnapNames, as they swept more than half of the
entries on our new Top 20 chart, including the #2 spot with Fruit.net
at $28,533.
SnapNames charted 11 domains overall while Sedo.com
also showed a lot of muscle by bagging 7 slots on the Big Board
including five of the first ten positions. Sedo's top guns were #3 Bing.com
at $25,375 and #4 Invest.mobi at $22,500.
By Ron Jackson
SnapNames and Sedo were so strong that only
two chart entries were left for other venues. Those went to Pool.com
with #5 PropertyShop.com at $20,801 and Afternic.com
with #15 FreeDiscount.com at $10,000.
As usual, .com was the dominant
extension, occupying 16 of the 20 rungs on the top sales ladder.
Fruit.net and Invest.mobi gave the Global Contenders two
entries on the all-extension leader board, a number matched by the County
Codes thanks to the €9,000 ($11,824) sale of #10
Forum.gr (ccTLD for Greece) and the £4,995 ($9,763) sale
of #16 Partnership.co.uk. Sedo handled both of those country
code deals.

value sales that have been reported to us in the

buyers, sellers or both.

Global Contenders
(.biz, .info, .mobi, .net & .org)
Fruit.net gave that extension its third
straight win on the Global Contenders chart and for
the second week in a row, .net claimed 10 of the 20 positions on
the GC list. You already saw that $28,533 sale of
Fruit.net on the all extension chart, as well at the $22,500
deal for #2 Invest.mobi.
.Mobi had a big week with five domains
on the GC chart including four of the first ten. Other big
hitters for the new mobile extension included Apotheek.mobi
(tied for 4th) at $6,500 and #6 90210.mobi at $6,000.
.Org also charted five domains this
week, with #3 CNIDR.org leading the way for that
extension after going for $8,000 at SnapNames. Marketleap.com
shows nearly 3,000 existing links to this domain which
explains why a buyer valued it so highly. Here's how all of the GC top sellers stacked up for the week ending

Country Codes
This week's top two country code
domains also earned positions on the all extension leader
board you saw earlier. Forum.gr tops the ccTLD chart
after that nice €9,000 ($11,824) sale at Sedo while Partnership.co.uk
is a solid #2 at £4,995 ($9,763). Sedo traditionally
dominates this chart and they did it again this week, taking
all but one of the chart entries!
Germany's popular .de extension
had the most chart entries with seven, led by #3 ChauffeurService.de
at €5,000 ($6,569). The European Union's .eu
was next with three charted domains, including #4 HeartInternet.eu
at $5,556. Great Britain's .co.uk and Greece's
.gr were the only other extensions with multiple entries,
scoring twice each.
The other countries represented this week were
India (.in), Latvia (.lv), Austria (.at)
and the United States (.us). Here's a look at the complete Country Code
