Phones Home for $225,000 in This Week's Highest Reported Domain Sale
Another huge wave of completed
sales from last month's Moniker.comlive and silent auctions at the T.R.A.F.F.I.C.
West conference in Las Vegas washed ashore
this week. To make sure that sales from other venues
over the past seven days were not lost in the flood of completed
sales from that one special event, we doubled the size of this week's leader board from the usual 20
positions to make it a Top 40. Even then, auction domains
swept 27 of the 40 positions, led by a six-figure blockbuster, ET.com
at $225,000. That also ranks as one of the ten biggest sales
reported so far in 2007 (#9 on our Year-To-Date
chart).
SnapNames.com
would have dominated the chart this week if the auction results had
not rolled in. Led by #3 MobileFone.com at $65,260,
SnapNames would have had the top three names and seven of the top
ten. Even in the face of the auction competition, SnapNames rang up
eight entries on the expanded Big Board.
By Ron Jackson
Afternic.com/BuyDomains.com
(and their Active Exchange platform) and Sedo.com
each put two names on the leader board with the private sale of #37 Cristianos.com
("Christians" in Spanish) for $15,000 accounting
for the other slot. The top name for Afternic/BuyDomains was #20 ElectronicFiling.com
at $22,188 while the standard bearer at Sedo was #32 Actualite.com
at €12,000 ($16,112). Both of the latter two names would
have been top ten domains without the auction results.
.Com dominates the Top 40, taking
all but four entries (with those four all going to .net). #5 Model.net
was the biggest non .com, banking $50,000 from the Moniker
auction. That sale was made by Durni Companies LLC. In
addition to all of the charted domains, there were 21 more
five-figure sales just off the chart, making a total of 61 domains
that closed at $10,000 or higher this week.
Here's a look at the complete leader board for the week ending Sunday,
April 8:

Keep in mind that these are the highest
value sales that have been reported to us in the
past week. This column is meant to be an educational tool,
not a complete list documenting ALL high
value domain sales. Such a list is impossible to produce
because many sales are kept private at the insistence of
buyers, sellers or both.
There were 21 more five-figure sales just off the
chart and 11 of those were .coms (we'll show the five-figure sales
in other extensions in the Global Contenders and Country Codes
sections later in this report). Five of the additional .coms at
that level came from the Moniker/T.R.A.F.F.I.C. auction, including LeatherBoots.com
($13,500), ExecutiveSearches.com ($13,000) and InlineSkating.com
($12,000). Also, TennisCoach.com served up an $11,770
ace and HomeAlarmSystems.com summoned $11,000.
Sedo sold Hosting24.com for $13,000 and ZMNM.com
for $10,000 while Afternic/BuyDomains booked another $10,000
with Curbside.com. SnapNames tallied a trio of extra
five-figure sales, scoring with WeddingGiftBasket.com ($12,590),
SecondAct.com ($12,472) and SailboatCharter.com ($12,361).
SnapNames also had a truckload of solid four-figure
sales, led by Cavies.com ($9,876), Logicon.com ($9,200)
and TheGarage.com ($8,000). AfricanPorn.com produced $7,877,
SubSea.com sank $7,601 and Setter.com secured $7,301.
Pollard.com pulled $7,007, EastNashville.com
netted $6,788, and FutureProducts.com fetched $6,600.
ClassicSportsCar.com sped off with $6,500,
AFreeGreetingCard.com delivered $6,000 and GreenTomatoes.com
fried $5,988. EUTradeLtd.com added $5,855 and ShoeOrganizers.com
stacked up $5,125. SnapNames had 33 more .com sales ranging from $2,000
to $5,000. You can check those out in the table
