Deja
Vu: Three More Six Figure Domain Sales Bask Atop the Big Board
They say good things come in threes
and in terms of domain sales that was true this week as we saw
three six-figure sales at the top of our sales chart for the second
week in a row. This week's trio was more impressive in dollar terms
though. Last week's three chart leaders totaled $400,000. The
three that head this week's elite list more than doubled that
figure, totaling $810,000.
This week's top domain, Systematic.com
also ties for the 6th biggest sale so
far this year after going for $400,000 in a
private sale. Canada'sTexada Software sold the domain
to Danish company Systematic Software Engineering A/S. A pair
of domains from Moniker'sSnapNames Live auction at T.R.A.F.F.I.C.
West followed with #2 DVDs.com hitting $300,000
and #3 GarageSales.com ringing up $110,000.
By Ron Jackson
11 Moniker/T.R.A.F.F.I.C. West sales
closed this week, so we expanded our usual Top 20 chart to 30
positions to accommodate those special event sales without obscuring
the top sales from the everyday aftermarket venues. Sedo.com
was the hot spot in the latter category, piling up 13 entries. #5 Exam.com
led the way for them after scoring $75,000.
.Com swept 23 of the 30 chart positions.
The top alternate extension sale was #7 Tickets.mobi, a name
purchased by Rick Schwartz for $60,000 at
T.R.A.F.F.I.C. West. That was one of two .mobis on the leader board.
The other was #28 (tie) Banks.mobi at $12,000 (also sold in the
T.R.A.F.F.I.C. West auction). Tickets.mobi and #9 Baseball.net
($52,500) both rank among the year's four biggest sales in our
non .com Global Contenders category.
There are four country code domains on the
all extension chart, led by #15 KGB.co.uk at £18,000 ($35,600). That
British ccTLD changed hands in a private transaction. Spain
(.es), France (.fr) and Germany (.de) also made
appearances on the Big Board.
Here is how all of the top sellers stacked up for the
week ending Sunday, March 30:

Keep in mind that these are the highest
value sales that have been reported to us in the
past week. This column is meant to be an educational tool,
not a complete list documenting ALL high
value domain sales. Such a list is impossible to produce
because many sales are kept private at the insistence of
buyers, sellers or both. Our procedure for verifying the
accuracy of domain sales reports is available here.
Forthe many newcomers entering the domain
industry we also want to point out that the reasons why a domain name sells for a certain price can be varied and are not always clear to those who are unfamiliar with the domain market.
If you do not understand why specific domain names command the
prices they do, you are likely to make unwise domain registrations or purchases.
We highly recommend that you do some basic research beforeyou buyanything! As a starting point we have
built a sister site specifically for you at NameNewbie.com.
There were seven more five-figure sales just off
the chart. Sedo had three of those; Auto-Tuning.de at $11,710,

Country Codes
It was a good week for the country codes
with the top five domains all cracking the five-figure mark. Four
of those made the all extension leader board you saw earlier and
#5 Auto-Tuning. de just missed. The top sale you haven't
seen is #6 Crabe.fr (French ccTLD) at 4,000 ($6,245).
France had a huge week piling up 10 of the 20 Country Code
chart positions - the most ever for the .fr extension.
As they always do, Sedo dominated the ccTLD action
sweeping 19 of 20 chart entries. Only the private sale of #1
KGB.co.uk ($35,600) kept Sedo from running the table. Here is how all of the ccTLD top sellers stack
