Six
Figure Sale of MeetPeople.com Leads this Week's Domain Sales Pack
People love to meet online and that
fact helped Rick
Latona close a $100,000 sale of MeetPeople.com
this week to take the #1 spot on our weekly Top 20 sales
chart. SearchEngines.com ran a close second at $92,500.
Moniker.com
had auctioned that domain off at T.R.A.F.F.I.C.
West in February but the deal wasn't completed until
this week.
Sedo.com
put more names on the Big Board than any other venue, claiming eight
spots including #3 Sexkontakt.com at €40,000 ($62,280).
Sedo's roster included an IDN at #11, Sociétés.com at
€8,404 ($13,085) and they also put two ccTLDs on the
elite list, #13 Medicamentos.es
("medicines" in Spanish) at €7,100 ($11,056)
and #15 (tie) ManchesterNews.co.uk at $10,000.
By Ron Jackson
Moniker had a hand in five charted sales, a
pair from T.R.A.F.F.I.C. West, one from a live auction at the Casino
Affiliates Conference and a pair from their home site led by #4 BathSafety.com
at $33,725.
The AfternicDLS
also had multiple chart entries - hitting the daily double with #10 HD2.com
($15,000) and #12 AMV.net ($11,900). There was one other
non .com domain on the leader board. That was #15 (tie) JOL.mobi,
a name that changed hands for $10,000 in a private
transaction. .Com swept the rest of the board, taking 15 of the 20
slots.
Here is how all of the top sellers stacked up for the

Keep in mind that these are the highest
value sales that have been reported to us in the
past week. This column is meant to be an educational tool,
not a complete list documenting ALL high
value domain sales. Such a list is impossible to produce
because many sales are kept private at the insistence of
buyers, sellers or both. Our procedure for verifying the
accuracy of domain sales reports is available here.
Forthe many newcomers entering the domain
industry we also want to point out that the reasons why a domain name sells for a certain price can be varied and are not always clear to those who are unfamiliar with the domain market.
If you do not understand why specific domain names command the
prices they do, you are likely to make unwise domain registrations or purchases.
We highly recommend that you do some basic research beforeyou buyanything! As a starting point we have
built a sister site specifically for you at NameNewbie.com.

saw earlier. The top ccTLD domain

$8,400 at the AfternicDLS. That was one of six British .co.uk
