Two More 6-Figure Sales and Six ccTLD Sales Take Places on This Week's Top 20 Chart

Editor's note: After this story was published, including the name of the #2 domain, we received a request from the venue that reported that sale to remove the name due to a non-disclosure request from the buyer). We have honored that request.

For the second week in a row a pair of six-figure sales set the pace on our all extension Top 20 Sales Chart. Also for the second straight week MediaOptions.com claimed the top spot on the elite list. Last week they scored big with AutoInsurance.org at $440,000. This time they did it with a two-letter .com - HX.com - at $125,000. The AfternicDLS took the number two spot with (name deleted due to NDA request) delivering $110,000.

Sedo rounded out the top three with Defiance.com at $90,000 and they went on to pile up 11 of the 20 chart entries, including 6 of the top 10 sales. Sedo also accounted 5 of the 6 ccTLDs that earned spots on the Big Board, including three that landed on the top half of the ladder; #7 GolfHolidays.co.uk ($36,675), #9 Mallorca.eu ($25,375) and #10 OnlineBet.gr ($24,167).

Sedo also gets credit for both of the non .com gTLDs on the leader board; #18 (tie) Rally.org at $14,500 and #20 Vergleichen.net at $14,145.

The AfternicDLS with three chart entries and Optimo.com with two were the only other venues with multiple chart entries. Optimo scored with #4 ConsumerBrands.com at $65,000 and #12 (tie) HealthcareBrands.com at $20,000

Keep in mind that these are the highest value sales that have been reported to us in the past week. This column is meant to be an educational tool, not a complete list documenting ALL high value domain sales. Such a list is impossible to produce because many sales are kept private at the insistence of buyers, sellers or both. Our procedure for verifying the accuracy of domain sales reports is available here.

For the many newcomers entering the domain industry we also want to point out that the reasons why a domain name sells for a certain price can be varied and are not always clear to those who are unfamiliar with the domain market. If you do not understand why specific domain names command the prices they do, you are likely to make unwise domain registrations or purchases. We highly recommend that you do some basic research before you buy anything! As a starting point we have built a sister site specifically for you at NameNewbie.com.

Country Codes

The ccTLDs had their usual strong week with eight domains cracking the five-figure mark (as you saw earlier, six of those also made the all extension Top 20 Chart). Since we showed you all of the five-figure country code sales above, the biggest sale in this category that you haven't seen yet is #9 on the ccTLD Top 20 Chart, Wechselinfo.de at $8,120 via Sedo. Chat.me rounded out the top ten with a $7,685 sale, also at Sedo.

Sedo went on to sweep 18 of the 20 chart entries. Only Drop.com.au with #5 Marketing.com.au ($15,032) and Moniker/SnapNames with #13 KO.tv ($7,261) kept Sedo from running the table.

Among extensions, Germany's .de and Great Britain's co.uk had the most chart entries with four each. .co (Colombia), .me (Montenegro) and .ru (Russia) also had multiple chart entries with two apiece.

Here is how the Country Code Top 20 stacked up for the week ending April 10:
