Price Paid for Brand.com Revealed - It Becomes the Biggest Domain Sale Reported So Far This Year

A couple of weeks ago TechCrunch reported that Brand.com had been sold to the owners of reputation repair service ReputationChanger.com, who will re-brand under the new name (ReputationChanger.com already redirects to Brand.com). TechCrunch reported that the domain, bought in a private transaction "supposedly cost six figures." You can delete the "supposedly" from that.

We have learned that the sale price for Brand.com was $500,000 and have been provided with documentation proving it. That makes Brand.com the biggest domain sale reported so far in 2013, eclipsing the $375,000 paid for Booker.com in January. The Brand.com deal was put together by WebsiteBrokerage.com

Confirmation of the Brand.com price capped a very strong week for the domain aftermarket, with another six-figure sale reported, along with 47 others that breached the five-figure barrier - enough to fill two all extension Top 20 Sales Charts and still have names left over. Of course, we only print one each week and that one sports Brand.com at the top followed by Surrogate.com, a name that changed hands through DomainNameSales.com for $110,000.

By Ron Jackson

DomainNameSales (DNS) wound up having a hand in seven charted sales, a number matched by GoDaddyAuctions. The latter venue was led by #3 Fortnite.com at $71,500 and they also claimed the week's biggest non .com gTLD sale with #5 CarsForCash.org at $55,000. The DNS roster included #4 ThisIsMe.com at $59,000 and #6 (tie) Cortinas.com at $50,000. GoDaddyAuctions shared that #6 slot with another big non .com gTLD sale involving AHN.org.

The ccTLDs matched the non .com gTLDs were two chart entries of their own (but at lower dollar amounts) - #17 Kortingen.nl at $20,800 and #20 BMP.de at $18,564. Sedo handled both of those sales.

The .coms swept everything else, piling up 16 of the 20 chart entries. DomainHoldings.com, Afternic.com, MostWantedDomains.com and NameJet.com all joined the aforementioned venues in earning chart honors this week.

Here is how all of the sales leaders stacked up for the week ending Sunday, June 30:
