High End Domain Buyers Go on Spring Break Helping Non .Com Domains Claim 3 of the Week's Top 5 Sales

After four consecutive weeks highlighted by six and seven figure domain sales, the buyers at the high end of the market finally took a breather this week. Perhaps they joined the hundreds of thousands of college kids who headed to the beach for spring break

The absence of the usual blockbuster .coms gave the ccTLDs and non .com gTLDs an opportunity to flex their muscles. In a particularly rare occurrence, there were more non .com domains on the top half of our latest weekly all extension Top 20 Sales Chart than .coms. In fact, the top spot on the elite list went to a non .com gTLD - NM.org, a domain that sold for $35,000 at Sedo. The runner up slot went to a ccTLD, FreeSpins.de at $27,600 (also at Sedo), leaving .com to take their first bow at #3 (tie) with Catterton.com at $25,000 via Go Daddy/Afternic. NTent.com shared the 3-hole after changing hands for the same amount at Sedo.

By Ron Jackson

Another ccTLD, Gaia.tv, rounded out the first five with a $22,275 sale. All told the country codes claimed five entries on the Big Board, including two more in the top ten - #7 FitnessStudios.de at $18,630 and #8 Affinita.it at $16,569. Sedo rang up all of the charted ccTLD sales en route to piling up 12 of the 20 chart entries overall.

The non .com gTLDs took three places with a pair of .nets - #9 Kilroy.net ($16,471 at Sedo) and #11 Actufoot.net ($12,420 at Sedo) joining #1 NM.org in that category.

That still left 12 places for .coms including Moniker's $13,000 sale of LasVegas247.com for Bill Gormally and Bilal Kapadia's $10,000 sale of #15 (tie) EnergyStock.com in a private transaction.

Here is how all of the sales leaders stacked up for the week ending Sunday, March 23:
