Garry Chernoff's Latest Home Run Tops This Week's Sales Chart - Year's Biggest Canadian ccTLD Sale Also Hits Six Figures

If big domain sales were home runs legendary domain investor Garry Chernoff might well be our version of Babe Ruth. The low key Canadian hit another one out of the park this past week, banking $150,000 for Maca.com in a private transaction (for those who don't know Garry's background, the fact that Frank Schilling credits Garry with mentoring him is a pretty good  indicator of his elevated place in industry history).

Another six-figure sale generated north of the (U.S.) border came from Wayne Haroutunian's iREx.ca who sold UsedCars.ca to the Edmonton-based Mike Priestner Automotive Group for a cool CAD 126,000 (US $115,920 at today's exchange rate, including $6,000 Canadian GST). That is the biggest Canadian ccTLD sale reported so far this year. iREx put another one on the first half or our weekly all extension Top 20 Sales Chart by selling #7 Trucks.ca to the same buyer for CAD 42,000 (US$38,640 including the $2,000 GST).

By Ron Jackson

The other big story this week was a flood of 3-character .com sales. With nine sales in that category alone, the LLL domains filled almost half of the chart. Eight of those nine were sold by NameJet, including the biggest one - #3 LEA.com at $60,100.

Rounding out the first five are Ingles.com ($49,899 at NameJet) and the biggest .org sale reported so far this year, Dolphin.org at $45,000 via Sedo.

The .coms swept 15 of the 20 chart entries. The ccTLDs bagged three places with #13 DH.pl ($20,318 at Sedo) joining those two big .ca sales on the Big Board. The non .com gTLDs took the other two slots with #17 (tie) Wear.net ($18,000 at Sedo) joining Dolphin.org on the elite list.

NameJet won the venue race with a dozen chart entries. In addition to Sedo and iREx, DomainProducts.com also earned chart honors with their $19,500 sale of #16 Engineering360.com.
