2-Letter .Com Commands Over a Half Million Dollars to Top This Week's Domain Sales Chart - Two Others Reach 6 Figures

...and the hits just keep on coming! Three more six-figure sales were rung up this week with one of those coming in at $510,000 in the 4th largest sale reported so far this year. That was the price paid for a rare two-letter .com, FO.com, in a deal handled by James Booth's BQDN.com. Booth put a second name on the Big Board by adding a $17,500 sale of #12 0240.com. As has been the case with so many top tier domains, FO.com is now in the hands of a Chinese owner who has a blockchain related site on the domain now.

Also breeching the 6-figure barrier were #2 Jumprope.com at $200,000 in a deal brokered by industry veteran Jakob Knightly and #3 WJX.com at $150,000 in a private transaction. Both of those rank among 2018's 15 biggest sales to date.

Crypto domains have been in the news a lot lately (including this article about Crypto.com in our Lowdown section Tuesday) and yet another name from that hot category landed near the top of our latest weekly all extension Top 20 Sales Chart. That was #4 CryptoGame.com, a domain that RapidNames.com sold through Afternic for $85,000.

Sedo filled the next two spots with Garbuio.com at $55,800 and yet another 3-letter .com sale, #6 KUL.com at $43,400. They went on to sweep 13 of the 20 chart entries.

By Ron Jackson

.Coms had an even more dominating week than usual, claiming every position on the elite list except two spots that went to ccTLDs. Those were the $30,000 sale of #7 Hyphen.co handled by GritBrokerage.com and Sedo's $14,756 sale of Spind.de. GritBrokerage also helped the .com cause with their sale of #20 Metcon.com at $11,550. That left no room at the inn for the non .com gTLDs.

This column is meant to be an educational tool, not a complete list documenting ALL high value domain sales. Such a list is impossible to produce because many sales are kept private at the insistence of buyers, sellers or both. Country Codes

The ccTLDs were led by those two five-figure sales you saw on the all extension leader board above with Hyphen.co setting the pace at $30,000. The highest sale in this category that you haven't seen yet is #3 on our latest weekly Country Code Top 20 Sales Chart. That is Sedo's $9,300 sale of Novellus.de. They went on to pile up 20 of the 23 chart entries including #5 Best.us at $7,500. The extra spots resulted from a four-way tie for the final spot.

GritBrokerage posted the other three sales. In addition to the chart topper they moved #4 Avail.co for $8,500 and #8 Academy.me for $5,900.

Germany's .de scored an easy win in the extension race with six chart entries. Here is how the top ccTLD sales stacked up for the week ending Sunday, March 11, 2018:

Non .com gTLDs (.net, .org and others, including new gTLDs)

Things were a lot slower in the Non .com GTLD ranks this week with only seven sales reported for the entire category and none of those reached five figures. That left the door open for City.global to take the top spot on our abbreviated Sales Chart with an $8,000 sale made by the .GLOBAL Registry who added three more sales to the leader board.

Sedo filled the runner-up slot with a $6,188 sale of Tinte.org and also sold #5 ValueChain.org at $3,000. Here is how the non .com gTLD leaders stacked up for the two weeks ending Sunday, March 11, 2018:
