.CO Stars on the Latest Domain Sales Chart Claiming the Top Spot and Tying for #2

.CO has had a good run since the re-purposed ccTLD began a new life in 2010 as a globally available domain marketed as an abbreviation for "company" (officially, .CO is the country code for Colombia but authorities there approved the switch to its current use). Even so, the extension rarely sees the heights on our weekly all extension Top 20 Domain Sales Chart that it reached this week - landing in the #1 position and also claiming a share of the runner-up spot (this week's report actually includes two weeks worth of data as I was away working on an out of town story last week). Feed.co earned top honors after changing hands for $85,000 at Sedo in the second highest ccTLD sale reported so far this year (topped only by the $101,500 sale of Music.ai in January).

.CO scored again with #2 (tie) CBD.co going for $50,000 via Grit Brokerage. That unusually high price for a 3-letter .co domain can be attributed the the acronym's meaning in the rapidly growing legal marijuana industry (CBD stands for "cannabidiol" that, along with THC, is one of two key compounds in cannabis that have proven medicinal value). CBD.co has already been developed into a marketplace for CBD based products.

By Ron Jackson

The .co domains enjoyed their moment in the sun, but the .coms took over from there and took every remaining entry in the top 10 and 17 of 22 chart entries overall (the extra spots resulted from a tie for the final position). #2 (tie) Sportline.com started the .com charge with at $50,000 sale at Sedo. They rounded out the first five with USCoin.com at $34,888 and CXP.com at $31,000. Sedo went on to sweep 17 chart positions overall including the 3rd ccTLD to take a place on the Big Board - #11 OnlineCasino.mx at $22,736. Sedo also accounted for both non .com gTLDs that crashed the party - #15 (tie) DrivingTests.org at $15,000 and #19 OHMC.org at $12,500.

Michael Mann's DomainMarket.com hit the Daily Double by selling StudioPhi.com and XBSR.com for $24,888 each putting them in a tie for #9. Chart honors also went to Anna M. Bastian, who sold #14 Nuze.com through Uniregistry for $16,037 and to PotDomains.com for their $15,000 sale of #15 (tie) Cannabar.com for $15,000.

Country Codes

The ccTLDs had an excellent outing with two of the week's three biggest sales, regardless of extension, thanks to Feed.co and CBD.co. The top five sales in this category all reached five figures, as you saw in the all extension section above. The biggest country code sale you haven't seen yet is #6 on our latest weekly Country Code Top 20 Sales Chart. That is Sedo's $9,280 sale of Bit.ch.

Sedo went on to sweep 17 of the 20 chart entries including #7 Flip.io at $8,999. Elsewhere, #8 SportsBet.tv traded for $7,250 in a private transaction and PotDomains.com sold #12 (tie) CBD.io for $5,000 (a comparative bargain when you consider that CBD.co sold for $50,000 this week).

With respect to extensions, it was a very diverse couple of weeks with 14 different TLDs represented on the chart. .IO has the most chart entries with four. Here is how the top ccTLD sales stacked up for the two weeks ending Sunday, June 17, 2018:
