Solid Domain Sales Fill DNJ's New Chart But For the 1st Time This Summer None Reached 7 Figures

The unprecedented string of 7-figure domain sales topping our bi-weekly Top 20 Domain Sales Chart finally comes to an end this week. For the past seven consecutive reports, stretching back to May, there has been at least one $1 million+ sale at the top of the leader board (there were two in our previous report September 1). The fact that the past two weeks included one of America's biggest annual holidays - the extended Labor Day weekend - may have slowed business a bit at the highest end of the market (where deals tend to be the most complicated) but when you look at all of the solid sales reported below, it is clear that the market is continuing to barrel forward with a full head of steam.

Veteran domain investor/broker Andy Booth got the party started this time out, claiming the top spot on the all extension elite list with his $175,000 sale of SmartWallet.com. A pair of ccTLD sales at Sedo followed - Invest.ae at $75,000 and GP.de at $70,210. The country code domains had one of their best fortnights of the year, piling up nine chart entries overall, including four in the top ten. Sedo, who has always dominated the ccTLD aftermarket, accounted for all but two of those country code sales. Those two went to Mark Ghoriafi at MrPremium.com for his $30,000 sale of #12 Tree.io and an $18,500 sale of #20 Canyon.io. An interesting thing about that Tree.io sale is that the seller had just picked the name up for $6,800 in June via Sedo, giving them a terrific return on their 90-day investment.

The .coms still took the most places overall with 10, including two that joined SmartWallet.com in the first five. Those were Sedo's sales of #4 Deity.com at $60,000 and #5 Homesome.com at $59,999. Sedo, who swept 16 entries overall, accounted for all of the .com sales but one. The exception was the $35,000 sale of #11 CAPM.com made by Logan Flatt at Media Code LLC.

The non .com gTLDs were limited to a single chart entry, also handled by Sedo. That was a $27,888 sale of #13 Flip.xyz.

Here is how all of the sales leaders stacked up for the two weeks ending Sunday, September 12, 2021:
