2024 Goes Out With a Roar - 7-Figure Sale and a Half Dozen in Six Figures Light Up the Year's Last Chart

Here we are at the end of another eye-opening domain sales season with the arrival of the last batch of sales data for 2024. Several factors came together at once to make our final bi-weekly all extension Top 20 Sales Chart of the year an especially memorable one. First among those was Domain King Rick Schwartz's $1,025,000 sale of BestOdds.com, making it one of the top five publicly reported sales in 2024. Rick gave the buyer 3 years to pay for this domain (an especially timely one with the arrival of  legal sports betting by mobile phone in many states) and they decided to make the final payment six months ahead of schedule to finalize ythe deal.

In another development that added fuel to the fire, we were able to get documentation verifying a large number of impressive sales that TOP.DOMAINS (a company that holds a portfolio of over 10,000 domains) made throughout the year. With those sales added to our charts for the first time, a $600,000 sale of Bet.bet that was made early in the year earned the top spot on our 2024 Non .Com gTLD Top 100 Sales Chart, as well as #1 on our last bi-weekly Top 20 Chart for 2024. The domain was purchased through Afternic by a casino company registered in Curaçao that serves the Brazil market. That is one of five TOP.DOMAINS sales on the leader board, including another one of the six 6-figure sales on the honor roll, #4 People.love at $255,000, also via Afternic.

Adding more fuel to the sales steamroller was the continuing boom in .AI sales, led this time around the track by a $230,000 sale of Boyfriend.ai at Afternic. That is the third biggest ccTLD sale reported in 2024. What's #1? That would be Andy Booth's $274,610 sale of Girlfriend.ai through Atom.com that we told you about in our last report. Way to go girls, you beat the boys again! :-)

Also ringing the six-figure bell was Park.io Founder Mike Carson's $399,999 sale of Cursor.com (a name he bought just last year for $60,000), Sedo with #6 Tachat.com at $103,000 and Swetha.xyz with a $100,000 sale of #7 Stable.xyz through Afternic.

Two of the sales I was most happy to see were #12 (tie) DreamHomeLottery.com at $60,000 amd #20 DreamHomeLottery.org at $30,000, both made by Josh Goddard through his Brokerage.Domains site. What was so special about those? I'm glad you asked! I met Josh for the first time during the Namescon Global conference in Austin last summer when we both attended the Internet Commerce Association's member dinner. He is a personable guy with a great passion for domains and I immediately thought "this is someone I'll be hearing a lot more from in future" and sure enough I did with these sales. Oh, by the way, Josh is 19 years old! How can you not love a business where this is possible for anyone willing to study it, then get to work making their dreams come true? (PS - thanks to Josh's dad Drew for the introduction)!
