Shop.com Changes Hands for $99 Million in Biggest Publicly Reported Domain Sale on Record to Top Latest Chart

Records are made to broken but new standards usually come in relatively small increments and are often spaced far apart. For example, Hicham El Guerroj set a new World Record for the men's 1-mile run in 1999 with a time of 3:43.13. That record stood for 27 years before Josh Kerr set a new mark this year that was just a half-second faster (3:42.66). Domain sales haven't worked that way, especially in recent years. In 2019, Voice.com at $30 million set a new record that was more than double the old high. That mark stood for six years but when it fell  it was more than doubled again by the $70 million sale of AI.com (a 2025 transaction that became public earlier this year). Now, before the year is even out, the

standard  jumped $29 million higher Tuesday morning when George Kirikos at FreeSpeech.com revealed the price paid for Shop.com - $99 million - in a deal made last month when Market America sold the name to Shopify.

George, who is an expert financial analyst, has uncovered countless high end deals by carefully examining public financial statements and comparing quarterly changes made to lines that are often used to include domain sales or acquisitions, like intangible asset entries. He found the $99 million price in a “Acquisition of intangible assets” line on a 3Q-2026 Shopify earnings release. Now, some have pointed out that companies may include several things other than domains on that line - but Shopify has not been one of them. George looked back over six consecutive quarters prior to Q3 when the $99 million figure appeared) and found Shopify typically reported $0 in Acquisition of Intangible Assets. With that information and other in-depth data points from George, Shop.com thus moves into the top spot on our YTD Top 100 Chart and All-Time Top 20 Domain Sales Charts.

In another outstanding sale that would normally be a chart topper, Sedo's "Mr. Premium" Mark Ghorafi (representing the buyer) and Kate Buckley at Defining.com (representing the seller), closed a $600,000 deal for Tick.com. In a separate transaction the buyer also paid Sedo an undisclosed brokerage commission. Mark and Kate are both world class brokers and both went the extra mile over a long stretch of stop and start negotiations to produce a transaction that both sides were happy with.

The hits just kept on coming with two more six-figure .com sales and a trio of ccTLD sales in the same lofty range. Daytona.com took the checkered flag at $500,000 in a private transaction and Ketan Patel revealed a $250,000 sale of DailyHealth.com that he closed through Afternic earlier this year. The ccTLDs sales all came from the white hot .ai/.si camp. Brands.io sold #5 Cardboard.ai for $150,000, Fruits.co moved Disco.ai for $112,000 and James Booth (DomainBooth.com) made the first known $100,000 .si sale with #7 Lambda.si via Atom.com.

DomainBooth/Atom and Fruiits both ended up with two top ten entries apiece. Fruits scored again with #9 Life.si at $56,000 and James with #10 Hindsight.ai at $52,490.

The non .com gTLDs were limited to two spots but one of those landed on the top half of the elite list as well as Compute.xyz claimed the #8 spot with an $80,000 sale through Spaceship.

Country Codes

Brands.io has the chart topper with Cardboard.ai and .ai went on to pile up six top ten sales and took seven places overall. The first reported six-figure .si sale, Lambda.si at $100,000, made by James Booth and Atom.com, led that TLD. .SI went on to sweep nine spots on the honor roll.

The highest reported sale outside of the .ai/.si camp came from Fruits.co where #10 E-Evidence.eu sold for $18,992.  Here is how the top ccTLD sales stacked up for the two weeks ending Sunday, Nov. 1, 2026:
