A pair of ccTLDs joined the party paced by
#6 Reiseziele.de, a German domain that changed hands for
$27,000 at Sedo. The AfternicDLS
also put a country code name on the Big Board - #19 Moebel.eu
(a European Union domain) at $13,365. That was just one
of five places that the AfternicDLS claimed on the elite list.
The non .com gTLDs also got into
the game with three charted domains - a .net and a pair of .orgs.
#9 (tie) Portugal.net led that category with a $20,000 sale
at UpMarketURLs.com. One of those .org sales was a quick flip
that earned a nice profit for the seller. Musik.org had been
acquired just last month at NameJet
for $8,065. This week the new owner moved it for $14,850
at Sedo to earn a tie for the 14th position on the new leader board.
Here's how all of the sales leaders stacked up for the
week ending Sunday, Feb. 13:

Keep in mind that these are the highest
value sales that have been reported to us in the
past week. This column is meant to be an educational tool,
not a complete list documenting ALL high
value domain sales. Such a list is impossible to produce
because many sales are kept private at the insistence of
buyers, sellers or both. Our procedure for verifying the
accuracy of domain sales reports is available here.
|
For
the many newcomers entering the domain
industry we also want to point out that the reasons why a domain name sells for a certain price can be varied and are not always clear to those who are unfamiliar with the domain market.
If you do not understand why specific domain names command the
prices they do, you are likely to make unwise domain registrations or purchases.
We highly recommend that you do some basic research before
you buy anything! As a starting point we have
built a sister site specifically for you at NameNewbie.com.

Country Codes
A trio of five-figure sales led the way for
the country codes this week, including a nice 2-letter domain from
the United Arab Emirates, #3 IW.ae at $12,320.
You saw those five-figure sales in the all extension section above,
so the highest ccTLD sale you haven't seen yet is the #4 name on
this week's Country Code Top 20 Chart - Maillotdebain.fr - a
French domain sold at Sedo for $8,100. TrainingCourse.co.uk
was right behind at $8,000.
Sedo went on to sweep all but two of the 20 chart
entries. The exceptions were #9 BritishColumbia.tv, sold by AllThings.tv
for $5,500 and #13 WatchDog.co.uk, sold by DomainLore.co.uk
for $4,160.

Non .com gTLDs (.biz, .info, .mobi, .net, .org, .asia, .pro & .tel)
The four five-figure non .com gTLD sales we showed you in the all extension section
earlier led the Non .Com gTLDs Top 20 Chart
parade this week. Rounding out the top six were #5 Tokyo.info
at $8,800 and #6 Irish.org at $6,750. Sedo
handled both of those sales and went on to have a hand in 13 of the
20 chart entries including #7 Advocaat.nl at $5,063.
It was a solid week for the .orgs as they
swept 10 of the 20 chart positions including two of the top three. LIA.org
also gave the AfternicDLS the #8 position with a $5,000
sale.

We truly appreciate the industry leading
companies who share their sales information

Meyer of Domain Sales Center also provides invaluable help
in collecting data for these sales
reports each week.
Every Wednesday we publish the highest reported domain name
sales for the previous week. On Mondays and Tuesdays our contributors send us
their sales data for the previous 7 days. We then compile that
information and write this article to give
you the most comprehensive sales report in the industry.
