Past Fortnight in the Domain Aftermarket Produced Three More 6-Figure Sales with Dozens More Reported in Five Figures

I was away last week covering the 2013 T.R.A.F.F.I.C. East conference at Fort Lauderdale Beach so we have some catching up to do this week. Since there was no sales column last Wednesday we're bringing you a double dose of data this week and expanding our usual Top 20 charts to 40 positions each to make room for all of the sales reported to us over the past two weeks.

The market resurgence we've been talking about continued over the past fortnight led by three more 6-figure sales. Kosher.com set the pace on our expanded all extension Top 40 Sales Chart after changing hands for $200,000 in a deal handled by WebsiteProperties.com. The runner-up spot went to FindYourDomain.com for their $125,000 sale of Shen.com (Shen essentially means "spirit" in Chinese). Appropriately enough, our 6-figure power trio was rounded out by the Castello Brothers (David and Michael who are well-known for their musical background). They sold Tangerine.com for a sweet $100,000

Australian broker James Wester was involved in another six-figure deal this week that involved a package of domains including CarLoan.com.au. An NDA prevented Wester from releasing the exact sale prices of the names included (so these can't be charted) but he was allowed to disclose that the price for CarLoan.com.au alone was somewhere over $200,000

By Ron Jackson

DomainNameSales.com (DNS) rounded out the first five  on this week's chart with #4 QIKU.com at $80,000 and the biggest non .com gTLD sale - #5 Bike.net at $60,000. DNS also joined forces with Sedo to sell #6 Baristas.com for $45,000.

The .coms swept 34 of the 43 chart entries (the extra spots resulted from a five-way tie for the final position). The non .com gTLDs claimed six spots on the Big Board with three of those landing in the first 15 where Bike.net was joined by #10 CloudID.net ($28,750 at Sedo) and #13 Italy.org ($24,999, also at Sedo).

The ccTLDs were limited to three chart entries including Sedo's sales of #14 Schiffssuche.de
("boat search" in German) at $24,536 and #31 Xocial.co.uk at $14,500 and DomainNameSales'  $19,000 sale of #23 AudioBooks.ca

DomainNameSales wound up having a hand in 21 charted sales. Sedo also had a big week, being involved in 13 charted sales and Go Daddy/Afternic continued to flex their newly combined muscles with six places on the elite list.

Here is how all of the sales leaders stacked up for the two weeks ending Sunday, Oct. 27:

Keep in mind that these are the highest value cash only sales that have been reported to us in the past week. This column is meant to be an educational tool, not a complete list documenting ALL high value domain sales. Such a list is impossible to produce because many sales are kept private at the insistence of buyers, sellers or both. Our procedure for verifying the accuracy of domain sales reports is available here.
