While
a lot of domain sales data comes from aftermarket platforms
that share their sales results on a regular basis (typically weekly
or monthly), we occasionally get a huge collection of
eye-popping sales made over a period of several months all
at once. That was the case in our previous
report when LegalBrandMarketing
Founder Braden Pollock released some of his top sales year
to date, a jaw dropping list that gave him 12 of the 20
entries on our last all-extension Top 20 Sales Chart. It just
happened again with Namecheap/Spaceship
Founder Rick Kirkendall posting a mind-boggling list
on X.com
showing some of the top .ai sales closed at Spaceship
over the past few months.
|

|
|
That
bomb drop helped .ai domains pile up 8 of the top 10 chart
entries on our latest leader board (with all ten reaching
six figures) and 22 of 25 positions overall (the extra
spots resulted from a 7-way tie for the final position).
Unlike many recent charts that have had a very diverse mix of
TLDs, the new list looks like an ice cream shop with two
choices - vanilla or chocolate. In this case, it was .ai
or .com - and we wound up with vanilla and
chocolate in the top spot as those two tied for #1 with
Folk.com and OF.ai changing hands for $250,000
each.
A
new messaging and task management service is already live on
Folk.com after it sold in a private transaction. Max Guerin
(Nam.es)
sold OF.ai via GoDaddy's premium brokerage, DomainNames.com
with Tom McCarthy handling the negotiations This is
Max's second huge sale of the summer - he also moved X.gg for
$115,000 in a sale we charted last month. Ironically that
chart topping OF.ai sale was one of only two of the .ai sales not
produced by Spaceship (the other being Atom.com's
$150,000 sale of #4 Leo.ai). Spaceship's 20-entry
army was led by #3 Perform.ai at $200,000.
Atom
also accounted for one of the three .com sales on the elite
list, following Folk.com and the $100,000 sale of #6 CenturyCruises.com
by MikeMann at DomainMarket.com,
with a $95,000 sale of #11 Fills.com.
|
|
While
these giant data drops completely reshape a chart in favor of
a single platform or TLD, you have to keep in mind that those
platforms and/or TLDs are under represented in between
their releases. So, it isn't necessarily more advantageous to
do big drops rather than release data soon after sales are
made so that your brand is continuously seen on the
charts.
This
is also a good reminder that a lot is always going on that
we don't see. We had a run of 2-3 months where it
appeared that high end .ai sales might be waning and I noted
that they were still happening but had not been reported yet.
Many never will reported due to NDAs, but if they are still
happening, people like Braden and Rick, who are generous with
the data they can share, will eventually fill in the gaps
and give us a better understanding of whether or not a market
trend is maintaining speed or starting to shift to a different
direction.

cash only sales that have been reported to us in the
past two weeks. This column is meant to be an educational tool, not
a complete list documenting ALL high value domain

are kept private at the insistence of buyers, sellers or both.

Country
Codes
Spaceship's .AI blitz laid
waste to the competition on our latest Country Code Top 20 Sales
Chart. They swept 20 of the 22 entries (with two extra spots
resulting for a tie for the final position) to help .ai take every
position on the new leader board. Still, two of the top three
spots went to other venues with DomainNames.com selling #1 OF.ai
for Max Guerin (Nam.es) at $250,000 and Atom.com
moving #3 Leo.ai for $150,000.
After that, it was all
Spaceship though as they tore through the elite list with a ledger
led by #2 Perform.ai at $200,000 and #4 Kingdom.ai
at $130,000.

the top ccTLD sales stacked up for the three weeks ending Sunday,

Non .com gTLDs
We have a very unusual
situation with the non .com gTDs this time around. Only nine
sales were reported from this category, obviously not enough for a
Top 20 chart (or even a Top 10) but four of the reported sales were
high enough to earn spots on our YTD
Top 100 Non .Com gTLD Sales Chart. Those were led
by a pair of sales by TopDomains
- Exe.app at $35,000 via Sedo
and Captain.dev at $29,000 through Afternic.
Atom.com had the only other five-figure sale reported - Web.plus
at $15,000. Dynadot's $7,950 sale of Wisdom.now
also qualified for the YTD Top 100 for this group.
Dynadot also accounted for
three of the remaining four sales with LatAmNews.lat
($5,600), Fin.news ($4,264) and Nagasaki.org ($2,372).
Atom posted other one - CallingMate.info at $4,950.
