Sedo Takes Top Spot on This Week's Sales Chart with Domain That Claimed Close to 6 Figures

There is an old saying - "close only counts in horseshoes"- but all of us would be happy to come as close to six figures as Sedo did with the week's highest reported domain sale. They took the #1 spot on our latest all extension Top 20 Sales Chart after closing a $99,975 sale of Handle.com, missing the six-figure mark by just $25 (three one-hundredths of one per cent)! The sale was actually made in euros - 77,500 of them - so had the exchange rate been calculated on a different day of the week it may well have cleared the six-figure bar. Either way Sedo wound up in the same envious position with a sale that was more than three times higher than the week's next biggest sale and a price that puts it among the top 25 sales reported so far this year.

The next two spots on the elite list went to NameJet who released all of their March sales this week. They scored with #2 BEY.com at $31,000 and #3 Optimization.com at $27,700. Michael Mann's DomainMarket filled the #4 slot with WholesomeChild.com at $24,888.  Mann said he had purchased that domain last fall for just $20! NameJet then rounded out the first five with the week's biggest non .com sale - ML.net at $24,500. They went on to pile up 12 of the 20 chart entries.

By Ron Jackson

.Coms swept 17 of 20 places overall. The ccTLDs were limited to just one - the sale of #8 WeBank.in for $17,500 via RapidNames.com. However, the non .com gTLDs added a second entry - this one a new gTLD - with Sedo's sale of #18 (tie) FC.group at $10,000.
