Wide Range of Solid Sales Dot This Week's Domain Sales Chart But an Uncharted Blockbuster Stole the Spotlight

Before we get to this week's top chart entries we need to talk about an uncharted sale that is the most significant sale reported so far this year. I told readers about it in a Lowdown post on Monday. You can read all the details there but the bottom line is that George Kirikos uncovered a $2.5 million sale of a two-name package, GoTo.com and Go2.com. It obviously makes sense for those two names to be sold together but, when exact prices are specified in transactions involving multiple domains, we can't arbitrarily assign values and chart them as individual domains.

That takes nothing away form the magnitude of this sale though. Go2.com was basically a sound-a-like bonus in the deal. A good guesstimate for a three-character .com like that (with an dictionary word preceding the number) might be in the $10,000-$25,000 range. Even if you put the number at $100,000 due to the name's relevance to GoTo.com, that would still value the latter name at $2.4 million which would be double the amount of the highest charted sale in 2018 to date - Super.com at $1.2 million. So, thanks as always to George for uncovering another powerhouse sale that again illustrates the high value of top tier .com domains.

By Ron Jackson

Moving on to the sales we can chart this week, none reached six figures but there was a lot of good, solid five-figure activity up and down the board. Michael Mann's DomainMarket.com claimed the top spot on our weekly all extension Top 20 Sales Chart with TotalDesign.com at $60,000. Mann also put three other names on the elite list.

After releasing a list of their top April sales, NameJet also scored repeatedly, filling six slots on the Big Board. #5 Shenhua.com led their roster at $48,111

The .coms, as usual, dominated the extension race, sweeping 16 of the 20 entries. The non .com gTLDS took three spots with #7 Center.org (sold for $45,000 in the NameJet/RightOfTheDot Namescon auction) and a second new gTLD, #12 My.tax ($22,500 at Sedo) joining My.bio on the honor roll. That left #13 App.co at $20,000 via Sedo as the lone entry for the ccTLDs.

This column is meant to be an educational tool, not a complete list documenting ALL high value domain sales. Such a list is impossible to produce because many sales are kept private at the insistence of buyers, sellers or both. Country Codes

The ccTLDs were led by the five 5-figure sales you saw in the all extension section above - all posted by Sedo with App.co ($20,000) and Blockchain.in ($13,500) at the top of the list. Sedo went on to sweep all but two entries on our weekly Country Code Top 20 Sales Chart using a wide variety of extensions to do that.

Sedo rounded out the first five with Vector.es ($11,999), Payments.io ($10,800) and TP.de ($10,800). The only exceptions to the Sedo rule were DomainLore.co.uk's $5,175 sale of #12 InteriorDesign.co.uk and NameJet's $5,000 sale of #13 (tie) BD.tv.

Germany's .de easily won the extension race with six chart entries. No other extension had more than three as a dozen different TLDs has representatives on the leader board.  Here is how the top ccTLD sales stacked up for the week ending Sunday, April 29, 2018:
