NDA Keeps Multi-Million $ Sale of Chocolate.com from Topping This Week's Chart But Gives Broker Kate Buckley Another Big Win

Buckley Media Founder & CEO Kate Buckley has just closed another major domain sale after brokering a multi-million dollar deal for Chocolate.com. The exact price paid could not be released due to an NDA so, unlike many or Kate's other big wins over the past couple of years (including Rate.com, Refi.com, Sleeping.com and Snoring.com, to name just a few) we won't be able to chart this one. That in no way diminishes the significance of a sale that Kate told us closed in the mid to low 7-figure range. Seems to me that would make somewhere around $3.5-$4 million a pretty good guess. That is an altitude few have ever had a chance to fly at, so kudos to Kate!

With Chocolate.com off the board, Sedo was able to claim the top spot on our latest weekly all extension Top 20 Sales Chart with their $50,000 sale of Navibank.com. They took four of the next five spots as well, missing only #2 that went to Canavas Media for their $23,000 sale of REK.com. Canavas scored again with #7 Grew.com at $10,800.

Otherwise, with only two more exceptions, it was all Sedo's show. Their haul included all four ccTLD sales that earned chart honors. That quartet was led by a pair German .de domains - #5 Hot.de at $16,751 and #6 Vergleichsportal.de at $13,560.

The non .com gTLDs were limited to just one spot - the .GLOBAL Registry's $8,000 sale of #14 (tie) ARE.global.

The .coms swept everything else, taking 15 of 20 entries overall. Vegas Options LLC contributed to the .com cause with their $10,000 sale of #9 HistoryOfTheGame.com.

This column is meant to be an educational tool, not a complete list documenting ALL high value domain sales. Such a list is impossible to produce because many sales are kept private at the insistence of buyers, sellers or both. Country Codes

The ccTLDs were, of course, led by their four entries on the all extension leader board that you saw above, with Sedo's $16,751 sale of Hot.de leading the way. The highest sale in this category that you haven't seen yet is #5 on our latest weekly Country Code Top Sales Chart. That is another Sedo sale, Zitat-des-tages.de at $5,716.

In fact, for the second week in a row, every sale was another Sedo sale as they swept the entire leader board. Their romp continued with a pair of French domains - #6 ClubParis.fr at $5,650 and #7 Monchien.fr at $5,085

The extension race was also no contest. Germany's .de scored an easy win by piling up eight chart entries. No other TLD had more than two. Here is how the top ccTLD sales stacked up for the week ending Sunday, March 3, 2019:

Non .com gTLDs (.net, .org and others, including new gTLDs)

It is still slow going on the Non .com gTLD front. For the third week in a row, less than ten sales were reported for the entire category. There were eight this week, led by the category's lone entry on the all extension leader board you saw earlier - ARE.Global at $8,000

The .GLOBAL Registry wound up producing five of the eight charted sales, including two that tied for #3 - Alexandria.global and CIA.global - at $4,800 each. Sandwiched among those .global domains at the top is #2 NewDay.org, a name that changed hands for $6,200 in a private transaction.
