$323,000 Sale Tops This Week's Domain Sales Chart With Another Also Fetching 6 Figures

The past week was a very good one for a veteran domain investor (who wishes to remain anonymous). With the help of two brokers with solid track records he sold one domain for $323,000 and another for $100,000. The king of the hill was 380.com, the domain that commanded 323K in a deal brokered by James Booth at BQDN.com to claim the top spot on our latest all extension Top 20 Sales Chart. That also ranks among the 15 biggest sales reported so far in 2017.

The seller's second home run was delivered by Andrew Rosener at MediaOptions.com who found a buyer for CIF.com at 100K to fill the runner-up slot. That pair of high end sales helped the .coms sweep the first seven spots on the leader board and 14 of 20 places overall.

Sedo, who accounted for 10 of the 20 charted sales, filled the #3 slot with MagicFiber.com at $28,000. DomainsNext.com was next with #4 0639.com at $24,000 (they booked another $8,050 for #17 U98.com) and Chirag Chavda rounded out the first five with 3270.com at $21,000 (Chirag also brokered a second sale that made the top ten - #7 1646.com at $20,000).

By Ron Jackson

With Fat City Properties selling #15 Livinity.com for $9,000 the .coms enjoyed their usual dominance but the ccTLDs also had a very good outing, placing five domains on the Big Board, including three that reached the top ten. #8 More.tv led that category with China's Mai Lifang selling that domain for $16,500 to a Ukrainian company that operates the More.club website. Sedo booked the other four country code sales on the elite list with #9 Girls.co.uk leading that quartet at $13,939.

The non .com gTLDs were limited to a single chart entry - that one a new gTLD. The .GLOBAL registry sold #18 (tie) Sky.global for $8,000

There was one considerably larger transaction in the non .com gTLD group involving GoldCoin.org but that deal, valued at €80,000 ($94,400), involves a payment schedule so cannot be charted yet. The operators of a cryptocurrency called Gold Coin acquired the domain under an agreement in which they paid €15,000 down with 20 monthly payments of €3,250 each to follow.

This column is meant to be an educational tool, not a complete list documenting ALL high value domain sales. Such a list is impossible to produce because many sales are kept private at the insistence of buyers, sellers or both. Country Codes

The ccTLDs were of course led by the five country code sales that qualified for the all extension leader board you saw above, with More.tv leading the way at $16,500. The highest sale in this category that you haven't seen yet is #6 on our latest weekly Country Code Top 20 Sales Chart. That is Sedo's $5,605 sale of Dutch domain Ellipse.nl.

Sedo went on to sweep 17 of the 19 chart entries including two that tied for #7 at $5,000 each - Risk.ai and Wix.cm. The two sales that kept Sedo from running the board were #16 Fused.co.uk ($2,454 at DomainLore.co.uk) and #17 Gordon.com.au ($2,280 at BoydRyan.com).

In a remarkably diverse week, 14 different TLDs are represented on the leader board. Great Britain's .co.uk was able to win the extension race with 3 charted sales. Three others - .io, .nl and .ai - each had a pair.
