A Two-Letter .com That Commanded $2.7 Million in the Year's 2nd Biggest Sale Tops This Week's Domain Sales Chart

The domain aftermarket had another solid outing this week with the year's second biggest sale (and its third 7-figure transaction) topping our latest all extension Top 20 Sales Chart. That $2.7 million blockbuster sale of KK.com, handled by Moniker/SnapNames brokers John Mauriello and Kevin Kopas, has been exceeded in 2013 only by Igloo.com's $4.7 million sale of another 2-letter .com, IG.com, in September.

While KK.com was the clear headliner, it wasn't the only market star this week. DomainNameSales.com (DNS) scored big with #2 Ride.com at $325,000 and Moniker/SnapNames rang the bell yet again with #3 LSN.com at $100,000. Rounding out the first five were another DNS sale, #4 Couplet.com at $40,000, and Sedo's $39,150 sale of ClassicTrader.com

You may have noticed a pattern there. All of the leaders were .coms and  the .com dominance went even deeper as the world's most popular TLD turned in its most overpowering performance of the year, sweeping 19 of 20 chart entries. The lone exception was the Moniker/SnapNames sale of #16 Tag.me at $19,700.

By Ron Jackson

While that left the ccTLDs with just one chart entry, that was one better than the non .com gTLDs, who were shut out. It was a particularly slow week for the latter category as it had no five-figure sales at all (the highest reported sale in the group was Immo.info at $6,001 via Moniker/SnapNames).

DomainNameSales won the race among venues, having a hand in eight charted sales including five of the top ten. Sedo had their usual strong outing with five entries on the elite list and Go Daddy/Afternic filled four slots (two of those shared with DomainNameSales). Moniker/SnapNames was the only other venue with multiple chart entries, laying claim to three places on the Big Board.

Chart honors also went to BidLease.com for the $25,000 sale of #12 RedPocket.com and to MostWantedDomains.com for their $17,500 sale of #18 BasicMath.com.

Here is how all of the sales leaders stacked up for the week ending Sunday, Nov. 10:

Such a list is impossible to produce because many sales are kept private at the insistence of buyers, sellers or both.
