2013 Domain Sales Season Closes With 30 Five-Figure Sales Logged Over the Final Two Weeks

The 2013 domain sales season is over, closing with 30 five-figure sales reported over the past two weeks. With offices closed for Christmas last week, we did not publish a report, so we will bring you completely up to date with a double length report this time out (this column also delayed a couple of days due to New Year's Day falling on Wednesday.) Next week we will be back on our usual Wednesday evening publication schedule.

When we do double length reports we normally double the number on entries on our usual Top 20 Sales Charts but with so many people off work and buyers out of the domain market for the holidays, there weren't enough high end sales reported to make that necessary this week.

No six-figure sales were reported over the past two weeks but, as I noted above, 30 solid five-figure sales were logged led by a pair of names at Sedo - MSC.com at $47,600 and Brazilian ccTLD NU.com.br at $45,000.

By Ron Jackson

Those two filled the first two slots on our all extension Top 20 Chart, followed by a pair of Go Daddy/Afternic sales - #3 Folia.com at $37,500 and #4 Supporter.com at $35,000. Sedo rounded out the first five with Volei.com at $25,500.

Sedo went on to pile up 13 of the 20 chart entries including two more ccTLD sales - #6 Laptops.de at $21,760 and #9 Burton.cn at $17,500. Sedo also had the biggest non .com gTLD sale - #10 3.biz at $17,000. Flippa.com put a second domain from that category on the Big Board - #14 CarGames.net at $13,901.

As usual, the .coms wolfed down the lion's share of the chart entries, sweeping 15 of 20 places overall, with Daddy/Afternic ringing up a half dozen of those. Here is how all of the sales leaders stacked up for the two weeks ending Sunday, Dec. 29:

Keep in mind that these are the highest value cash only sales that have been reported to us in the past week. This column is meant to be an educational tool, not a complete list documenting ALL high value domain sales. Such a list is impossible to produce because many sales are kept private at the insistence of buyers, sellers or both. Our procedure for verifying the accuracy of domain sales reports is available here.

Country Codes

The past two weeks were good ones for the ccTLDs as they piled up a half-dozen five-figure sales. You saw all of those in the all extension section above, so he biggest sale from this category that you haven't seen yet is #7 on our latest Country Code Top 20 Sales Chart - that is Boing.com.ar, an Argentinean ccTLD that sold for $8,840 at Sedo,

Sedo went on to sweep 17 of the 20 chart entries, including #8 Car2Go.se at $7,704. Go Daddy/Afternic and DomainLore.co.uk were the only other venues represented on the elite list. DomainLore got on the board with #13 Spotless.co.uk at $5,248.

It was a remarkably diverse fortnight with 14 different TLDs represented on the leader board. Only Germany's .de extension, with thre charted domains, took more than two places. Here is how the country code leaders stacked up for the two weeks ending Sunday, Dec. 29:
