Six-Figure Country Code Sale at Sedo Races to the Top of This Week's Domain Sales Chart

Autos.de delivered a satchel full of cash - $166,800 to be exact - to top our all extension Top 20 Sales Chart this week. That big sale at Sedo also ranks as the 4th highest ccTLD sale so far in 2014 (the YTD Country Code Top 100 is the second chart on the page linked to above.)

.Coms swept the rest of this week's top 10 en route to taking 17 of the 20 chart entries overall. The runner up spot when to Maimaiche.com, a domain that Go Daddy/Afternic sold for $80,000. Sedo filled the next two slots with Kalamata.com at $62,550 and Lolly.com at $50,000. NameJet rounded out the first five with their $43,700 sale of 472.com

Sedo put a second ccTLD on the Big Board by selling #12 Dentiste.fr for $20,850. They went on to pile up 8 chart entries overall, tying NameJet in the race among venues. The NameJet roster included the only non .com gTLD to qualify for the elite list - #16 Wnjpin.net at $16,300.

By Ron Jackson

There was another big transaction worth noting this week, though it involved the sale of a developed website rather than a domain name only. As DomainNameWire reported, Medicare.com changed hands in a deal worth $4.8 million. I think the domain alone would have been worth that figure and if the buyer, eHealthInsurance Services, Inc., had scrapped the site to build something new, it would have qualified as a domain only sale that we could chart. However, the new owners have kept the original site (which has been a solid revenue producer) and content with very few changes from the original site as shown on a variety of historical snapshots cataloged at Archive.org.

No question who is king of the hill for the ccTLDs this week. That blockbuster sale of Autos.de for $166,800 at Sedo easily secured the top spot on our latest weekly Country Code Top 20 Chart.
