VIP Brokerage Tops This Week's Domain Sales Chart with the Year's  First Reported 7-Figure Sale

I was away covering the 2017 NamesCon conference in Las Vegas last week so this week I have a double dose of domain sales data for you. The big news, as I reported in a post in our Lowdown section Tuesday, was the first 7-figure sale reported in 2017. That was VIP Brokerage Founder Mark Thomas's $1,820,000 sale of 01.com. That gave VIP the top spot on our latest weekly all extension Top 20 Sales Chart as well as the top slot on our first Year-to-Date Top Sales Chart of 2017 (a list that ranks all of the top sales in the current year).

In another big transaction, Sedo Senior Broker Dave Evanson put Physician.com in the #2 slot on this week's elite list with an impressive $179,000 sale - one of many six-figure sales Dave has posted in his illustrious career. That was the first of six positions in a row that went to Sedo, including #3 E77.com at $25,000. They went on to sweep 14 of 20 places overall.

The Sedo haul included three of the four non .com gTLDs that crashed the Big Board. Their trio included #4 Train.info ($12,438), #6 Bus.info ($10,799) and #8 (tie) ILG.net ($10,000). The fourth charted sale in that category went to Arbel Arif who moved #8 (tie) Blade.shop - a new gTLD - for $10,000

By Ron Jackson

The remaining 16 positions all went to .coms leaving the ccTLDs empty handed this week, something that doesn't happen very often. NameKart.com and Michael Mann's DomainMarket.com both contributed to the .com onslaught with two chart entries each.

Here is how all of the sales leaders stacked up for the two weeks ending Sunday, January 29, 2017:

Keep in mind that these are the highest value cash only sales that have been reported to us in the past week. This column is meant to be an educational tool, not a complete list documenting ALL high value domain sales. Such a list is impossible to produce because many sales are kept private at the insistence of buyers, sellers or both. Country Codes

It was a rare slow week for the ccTLDs. After ringing up eight five-figure sales last time out none were reported over the past two weeks. That left the door open for a trio of .AI sales at Sedo to share the top spot on our Country Code Top 20 Sales Chart. Calendar.ai, Invest.ai and Meet.ai sold for $6,999 each. .AI is the country code for Anguilla

Sedo rounded out the first five with Blog.co.uk at $6,479 and MyWorkday.co at $5,000. They went on to sweep the top nine sales and 21 of 22 places overall (the extra spots resulted from a 9-way tie for the final position). The lone exception was AscendDomains.com's $4,000 sale of #10 Chrysalis.in

Thanks to a flurry of sales at Sedo, .AI easily won the extension race with 13 chart entries.  Here is how the country code leaders stacked up for the two weeks ending Sunday, January 29, 2017:

Non .com gTLDs (.net, .org, .biz, .info & others, including new gTLDs)

The non .com gTLDs had some quality sales this week, led by that quartet of five-figure sales you saw on the all extension leader board at the top of the report with Train.info ($12,483) and Bus.info ($10,799) setting the pace. However, the category is still struggling with quantity as only 14 sales were reported for the entire group over the past two weeks.

The highest sale in this category that you haven't seen yet is #5 on our Non .com gTLD Top Sales Chart. That is Sedo's sale of a new gTLD - Sprechstunde.online - at $3,780. Sedo wound up claiming 10 of the 14 sales reported. PixelDreams.es was the only other venue with more that one. Isaac Paton Nicolau's company sold #7 Airports.travel for $3,380 and #12 Services.travel for $2,254.

Here is how the non .com gTLD sales stacked up for the two weeks ending Sunday, January 29, 2017.
