Domain Sales Continue to Sizzle with $500,000 Deal for a Two-Letter .com  

After a week away to cover the Domain Roundtable conference in Seattle (our complete wrap up article on that event will be published in the next day or two) we are back to bring you completely up to date on what has happened in the domain market over the past 14 days. The numbers continue to impress, both in terms of the amounts being paid and the remarkably high volume of sales (particularly when we are supposed to be in the "slow" summer season). 

Since we will be covering twice as much data as we usually do, we are expanding our usual Top 20 chart to 50 positions (doubling it then adding ten more spots to make way for the first wave of completed sales from last month's Moniker/Affiliate Summit auction).  In fact it looks like a 20-position chart may be a permanent thing of the past as the acceleration in sales volume appears poised to render it obsolete. 

Over $3.5 million worth of domains were sold in a live auction at Roundtable last week and as those sales are finalized (becoming eligible for our charts) they will join the constant stream of high dollar sales generated by Moniker's many live auctions, making additional elbow room on our charts a necessity.

Sedo.com had a fabulous fortnight piling up 27 of the 50 highest sales including the top two and seven of the first ten. LI.com led the way for them at $500,000 in a deal that is the 11th highest sale reported so far this year. Sedo also sold #2 Supernatural.com for $125,000. In still another six-figure sale, Moniker.com closed Passover.com at $100,000. That name was auctioned off in their live auction at the recent Affiliate Summit in Miami. 

A half-dozen country code domains cracked the all-extension leader board this week with #5 Reviews.co.uk headlining that group after being acquired by Callum McKeefery for £38,000 ($75,307) in a private sale. Four Global Contenders also joined the usual flood of .com domains on the elite list. #7 Baby.org set the pace in that category, posting €47,234 ($63,656) in a sale at Sedo. In another big one, #9 Pay.mobi pulled $50,000 in the Moniker/Affiliate Summit auction.

NameMedia continues to show excellent results with their Afternic DLS platform (built on the solid foundation provided by Afternic.com and BuyDomains.com). They put nine names on the Big Board including a pair at $44,000 each; StudentAide.com and FCM.com. Here is how all of the top sellers stacked up for the two week period ending Sunday, August 19:

There were 19 more five-figure sales just off the chart. Sedo had a dozen more in that range including eight .coms (we will cover the non .com sales - including two more five-figure .mobi sales) in the Global Contenders and Country Codes sections below. 

Sedo's list included KNM.com ($11,555), Thermal.com ($11,500), FreeOnlineCasinos.com ($11,500) and WestNile.com ($11,095). Sedo also sold Cymax.com ($11,000), TinyGirls.com ($20,610), JNC.com ($10,501) and Fetish-Tube.com ($10,000). SnapNames.com sold iCanada.com for $11,500. At Afternic/BuyDomains OutletCenter.com secured $10,500 and three others; Originators.com, Narratives.com and GetRevenue.com went for $10,000 each. 

.Com Supporting Cast

The ledger is also overflowing with solid four-figure sales. At Sedo, OmegaWave.com washed up $9,500, CooCoo.com cracked at $9,000 and WebMobil.com welcomed €6,500 ($8,762). Threat.com cornered $8,500, First1.com found €6,037 ($8,138) and TopFotoLogs.com tallied €6,000 ($8,086). LiveMore.com landed €5,500 ($7,413) while SumoWrestling.com and ParadiseHosting.com hauled in $7,000 each. QGB.com brought $6,900 and three others; XHV.com, Options360.com and Kive.com commanded $5,000 each.

Afternic/BuyDomains enjoyed a spectacular run over the past two weeks piling up hundreds of four-figure sales including HospitalityServices.com ($9,375) and a trio at $9,000 each that included PersonalAssistance.com, LinePrinters.com and CoffeeConnection.com. WorldDevelopment.com drew $8,820 while VentureFunding.com and NextSteps.com notched $8,000 each. SquashClub.com closed at $7,800 and NewVisions.com clicked for $7,600.

Afternic/BuyDomains had eight names in a logjam at $7,500 each. That pack included Zayo.com, TheExperts.com, SoftwareLab.com, RentalsDirect.com, FixedAssets.com, DailyBriefing.com, ChipCards.com and CellularCommunications.com. SupportSystems.com sold for $7,440, SpeakingClearly.com claimed $7,200 and CurrencyOptions.com distributed $7,144. A quintet at $6,750 each included USExports.com, NewCollege.com, MeltingPoint.com, ComedyAwards.com and AirControl.com. 

RealityGames.com dealt out $6,666, FastLinks.com located $6,563 and HealthCarePrograms.com provided $6,088. Afternic/BuyDomains had a remarkable 208 more .com sales ranging from $2,000 to $6,000 You can review those in the table below. 

As if that weren't enough, Afternic/BuyDomains had over 550 more .com sales under $2,000!

Back at SnapNames, CardCenter.com greeted $9,200, Advogado.com dug up $8,700 and Intellisearch.com found $7,400. IrelandFlowers.com grew $6,300, ChineseHerbalMedicine.com dispensed $6,250 and SearchLoan.com locked in $5,751. BirdAviary.com perched at $5,688, GovernmentHome.com housed $5,555 and HomeLoanz.com booked $5,300. Structurals.com struck $4,950, TheSuburbs.com encircled $4,655 and three others; RentTimeshare.com, Dynamique.com and A123.com counted out $4,600 each.

The SnapNames roster also included FunnyGift.com ($4,588), WebFun.com ($4,444), AfricanBrides.com ($4,300) and InstantLoanApproval.com ($4,100). SnapNames had 30 more .com sales ranging from $2,000-$4,000. You can check those out in the table below:
