UNet.com Yields $100,000 to Top a Long List of Reported Domain Sales From the Past Fortnight

We're back after a week off to cover last week's T.R.A.F.F.I.C. West conference in Las Vegas (our comprehensive review of that event will be published on our home page by the end of the week). Given the 14-day span since our last column, you won't be surprised to hear that hundreds of new four, five and six figure sales have been reported since our previous trip to the plate. The lone surprise is that from among all of those sales, only one cracked the six-figure mark and that one - Unet.com, sold at Sedo.com for $100,000 to barely clear the bar. 

We also got word of one higher sale but it was closed last August and has just now come to light. Sales have to have been completed within the past 30 days to qualify for our current weekly chart, but we will add this one to our 2007 Year to Date list. The name is Celebs.com and it changed hands for $110,000 in a private transaction.

Despite the paucity of blockbuster sales there was a surplus of solid five-figure deals, including Sedo's $82,000 sale of #2 Centerfolds.com. SnapNames also had a large group in this range, most of them coming from closings of sales made during the SnapNames Live auction at last month's DOMAINfest Global conference in Hollywood, California. Their roster was led by #3 Intimate.com at $80,000 and #4 Kathy.com at $65,000. All told, SnapNames piled up 19 of the 41 entries on the all extension leader board (the extra slot resulted from a four-way tie for the final position). 

RickLatona.com holds down the #5 spot with Lakeview.com at $52,500. Latona didn't sell as many names as usual from his namesake site the past couple of weeks because he has been vacationing in Africa. I got a note from Rick this morning and he had just come down from climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. Made the summit too! After all of that time at high altitude he'll probably return home a little light-headed so you can probably hit him up for some good deals over the next few days.

While .com enjoyed its customary dominance of the Big Board, a couple of non .coms did crack  the top ten. #8 Comparer.fr (French country code) rang up $44,968 at Sedo and #10 (tie) Politics.net stuffed the ballot box with $35,000 at SnapNames. There is another ccTLD on the second half of the chart. #32 Business.la banked $17,500 at SnapNames. .la is the country code for Laos, but the registry has tried to market it as meaning "Los Angeles", an effort that has met with modest results, but this keyword proved to be an exception to the rule.

Here is how all of the top sellers stacked up for the two weeks ending Sunday, February 24:

There were 26 more five-figure sales just off the chart and SnapNames accounted for half of those including ChapterEleven.com ($14,000), GrowthStocks.com ($13,500) and a pair at $12,000 each; Paddleboats.com and MensChat.com. SnapNames also scored with Food.la ($11,250), DebtManagement.org ($11,000) and SouthAirlines.com ($10,650). OfficeHumor.com brought a $10,159 smile while five other domains earned an even $10,000 each. That pack included Latino.org, CheapestAirlines.com, ApartmentLife.com, Antimatter.com and AlarmService.com.

At Sedo, TestCorp.com tallied $12,742, Parasite.com latched onto $11,000, Remortgage.org returned $10,600 and VirtualCash.com kicked in $10,000. Sedo also handled a $10,000 sale of Uptake.com that was listed by the AfternicDLS. The AfternicDLS also sold APLTerminals.com ($14,500) and USPostalServices.com ($10,000). 

The AfternicDLS continued to pile up four-figure sales at an astonishing rate. Their sales sheet included BuyShoes.com ($9,988), Pocit.com ($7,888) and LSpeed.com ($7,688). InnovationInAction.com and PrintPlus.com provided $7,500 each while HydraulicHose.com hauled in $7,088. SchoolsIn.com and Livability.com located $7,000 each, Boxet.com distributed $6,688 and InstantDollars.com brewed up $6,088. 

The AfternicDLS also had a five-name logjam at $6,000 apiece that included SkyData.com, RUSA.com, Marquardt.com, FlooringLiquidator.com and CastleOnline.com. NatureTrek.com netted $5,600, CTOR.com captured $5,518 and GraduateCenter.com seated $5,440. B12Vitamins.com downed $5,316 and Jinni.com jammed to the tune of $5,288. The AfternicDLS reported 208 more four-figure sales ranging from $2,000 to $5,000 that you can check out in the chart below:
