Six-Figure Mark Breached Again This Week With Sedo Doing the Honors This Time Out

68 sales of six figures (or more) have been reported so far this year with the latest of those coming this week when Sedo hit the mark (on the button) with a $100,000 sale of Athlon.com that tops our latest weekly all extension Top 20 Sales Chart

Athlon comes from the Greek word for "contest" and many companies use the name (computer chip maker AMD has also had a line of microprocessors by that name for many years now). Sedo has received both payment and the domain but until they move it into the buyer's account the WhoIs record won't show who purchased it (and, of course, it may not show that even then if the new owner employs WhoIs privacy). The domain currently redirects to AthlonCommunications.com, the site of a New York company who has had Athlon.com for several years now. So, it looks like they sold Athlon and will go with the longer name once the new owner changes the nameservers.

Sedo also nailed down the #2 slot with 907.com at $68,580. Industry veteran Larry Fischer of DirectNavigation.com filled the 3 slot with StripChat.com at $50,000. A pair of sales at NameJet rounded out the first five with #4 IDAI.com hitting $31,500 and #5 NUS.com notching $28,900. NameJet, who released all of their September sales at once, piled up 10 chart entries.

By Ron Jackson

For the second week in a row, the .coms swept 17 of the 20 chart positions. The other three spots all went to ccTLDs with #6 Donna.it leading that group with a $27,940 sale at Nidoma.com. Sedo posted the other two country code sales, scoring with #13 NetBet.ca at $13,500 and #18 (tie Tuenti.com.br at $11,000.

The non .com gTLDs were shut out with no sales from that category reaching five figures. However, it is interesting to note that the group's highest sale was a new gTLD - NewYork.estate - sold for $9,000 in a private transaction.

NameJet and Sedo were the only venues with multiple chart entries this week, but a couple of others, in addition to DirectNavigation.com and Nidoma.com, earned chart honors. AdEcho joined with Sedo to sell #7 RealReviews.com for $25,000 and Michael Berkens' MostWantedDomains.com moved #9 AllDay.com for $22,500

Here is how all of the sales leaders stacked up for the week ending Sunday, October 5:
