.Top Domain Takes Top Spot on This Week's Sales Chart - Single Digit Domain Draws $79,000

New gTLD .top continues to be popular with Chinese buyers. They love numeric domains, especially those with the number 8, so 8.top could be considered one of the best names in the entire TLD. That's why it was able to attract CNY 500,000 ($79,000) in a sale handled by the Jiangsu Bangning registrar.

As has been the case all year ultra-short domains remain the hottest names on the market. None of the eight biggest sales on this week's all extension Top 20 Sales Chart is more than 4 characters long (not counting the extension of course). A pair of 3-letter .coms took the 2nd and 3rd spots with Sedo selling OKA.com for $60,000 and Flippa.com moving CLN.com for $45,000.

Rounding out the first five are #4 9727.com, sold by DomainsNext.com for $35,000, and #5 EGIB.com, sold at Sedo for $34,875. The short domains that followed are Treu.de ($33,900), ESW.com ($25,000) and JUP.com ($23,500) with Sedo booking all three of those sales.

By Ron Jackson

It looks like we will soon be charting a blockbuster 3-digit domain sale. Michael Berkens reported Tuesday (Oct. 20) that Rick Schwartz has sold 989.com for $818,181.81 but as of this writing the public WhoIs record is not showing a change in ownership. When it does, Rick would have three of the five biggest sales reported so far in 2015 (In February he sold Porno.com for $8,888,888 and just last month he moved another 3-digit .com - 899.com - for $801,000).

The .coms piled up 13 of the 20 chart entries. The ccTLDs also had a good outing with six names on the Big Board led by that Treu.de sale at Sedo. They also sold #11 Thermobox.de ($16,950),  #13 Box.tv ($15,498) and #18 (tie) Insurance.com.sg ($9,990) while #13 Easy.tv changed hands for $13,500 in a private transaction and #16 ER.uk went for $10,850 at DomainLore.co.uk. The non .com gTLDs were limited to one sale - but that was the biggest one of the week in 8.top.

Non .com gTLDs (.net, .org, .biz, .info & others, including new gTLDs)

The Non .Com gTLDs had one big winner - 8.top - a domain that not only topped this chart but also the all extension leader board above with its $79,000 sale. There was a steep drop after that one though with the next highest sale being Beijing.biz at $3,398 via Sedo. The next spot on our latest weekly Non .Com gTLD Top 20 Sales Chart went to Flippa's $3,100 sale of Tourist.org

Rounding ut the first five are #4 1502.net ($3,020 at SnapNames) and #5 Derivati.net ($2,599 at Sedo).

The .nets easily won the extension race, taking ten spots on the leader board. The .infos were next with three and the .orgs had two. Here's how all of the Non .Com gTLD leaders stacked up for the week ending Sunday, Oct. 18:
