Sale of 989.com Closes at Over $800,000 Giving Rick Schwartz 3 of Year's Top 5 Sales

Last week I told you that I expected to be able to chart a blockbuster sale from Rick Schwartz soon. Michael Berkens first reported the $818,181.81 sale of 989.com on October 20, but the domain had not been transferred at the time we put together last week's report. That has now been done with Escrow.com having received full payment as well as the domain that they will now move on to the Chinese buyer.

I learned one thing new about the sale this morning when broker George Hong of Guta.com let me know he had brokered the deal. As many of you know, George lives in the U.S. but moved here from China.  His familiarity with both the U.S. and Chinese markets and his fluency in both languages have put him in a perfect position to take advantage of the buying spree well heeled Chinese buyers have been on this year.

In addition to easily claiming the top spot on  this week's all extension Top 20 Sales Chart, Schwartz's sale of 989.com gives him 3 of the 5 highest sales reported so far in 2015, including the biggest one - Porno.com at $8,888,888 - and 899.com at $801,000

By Ron Jackson

In a related note, there was a report from James Iles this week at NamePros about another major sale involving XA.com - a name that may have been sold for $850,000. James said the buyer, who lives in the Philippines, was contacted by domainer James Booth (who also lives in that country) and replied 850K when asked what he paid. Since then Mr. Iles asked Mr. Booth to see if the buyer would  mind providing proof of the price paid so DN Journal could chart it. Mr. Booth sent that request but didn't  received a response. That's not surprising since many people are reluctant to share financial documents with anyone. XA.com is obviously a very high value name and I'm not questioning the price reported - I just can't verify that price at this time. I appreciate the efforts Mr. Iles and Mr. Booth both made to help in that regard.

The past week was another good one for Tracy Fogarty at eNaming.com. She booked three of the top seven sales including #2 AILV.com at $45,000 and #4 ContentHub.com at $22,000. Tracy also claimed a share of the 5th spot with Jainism.com at $20,000.

Other top sales went to SnapNames with #3 77787.com going for $26,055 there and the Above.com Marketplace for #5 (tie) Cosmetics.org at $20,000. Working together, eMall.ca and Steve Smith at NamingAdvisors.com, also secured a share of that 5th spot with a $20,000 sale of Watches.ca.

Sedo had their usual strong outing, piling up eight chart entries led by #8 Paypro.com at $26,830. Several other venues earned chart honors this week with three of them tied for #10.  AbdulBasit.com sold Dowin.com, Park.io sold Fast.io and Nametra.com moved QualifyMe.com - with each of those names going for $15,000. Brand.direct also rang the chart bell with #17 (tie) Cannabis.city at $12,000.
