Quarter-Million Dollar Sale Tops This Week's Chart - 13 of 20 Entries are 3 Characters or Less!

If you wanted a place on one of this year's weekly Top 20 Sales Charts having ultra-short short domains has been an essential ingredient in getting there - unless of course you own something like Essential.com. In that case you could still go straight to the head of the class. MediaOptions.com did exactly that - brokering a $250,000 deal for Essential.com to claim the top spot on this week's all extension leader board. Brokerage owner Andrew Rosener doesn't get to report a lot of their sales because most are subject to NDA's but he said this one followed  many other high end sales that have made it a phenomenal year for his company.

That was one if three six-figure sales reported this week. MediaPoptions also had a share of the runner-up spot, teaming up with NameJet to sell 742.com for $142,000. Sedo rounded out the power trio at the top of the elite list with #3 Material.com at $100,000.

When you zoom back out for a wider view of the chart it quickly becomes apparent that short remains the favorite sport for well funded domain investors. The shortest name on the board, JR.net, landed in the number 4 spot with a $55,000 sale at NameJet. A dozen other charted sales were just three characters long, ten of those being ultra popular three-letter .coms, a group led by #5 JHG.com at $54,000, also via NameJet.

By Ron Jackson

All three of the non .com gTLDs on the Big Board were three characters as well with 742.net joined by a pair of .club domains, #9 VIP.club at $40,000 (via the .CLUB Registry) and #18 The.club at $19,000 through RightOfTheDot.com.

The ccTLDs were limited to one chart entry - #20 Click.me at $18,000. Financing for that private sale was provided by Lendvo.com, a business loan company that is becoming more active in the domain space (further evidence that quality domains are being seen an investment quality assets). They paid the seller in full and will hold title to the domain as collateral until the loan is repaid.

Another new name on the chart is DomainPromotion.com. They filled the #14 slot with one of those three-letter .com sales, banking $25,000 for JEK.com.

Here is how the sales leaders stacked up for the week ending Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015:
