With Domain Investing Becoming a Bigger Game Elliot's Blog Gets a Perfect New Name

If you typed ElliotsBlog.com into your browser this morning you might have been surprised to see a different website appear. Have no fear, the

popular blog written by veteran domain investor Elliot Silver hasn't been hijacked - it simply has a new home at an even more relevant web address -  DomainInvesting.com

Elliot explained his reasons for re-branding the six-year-old site in a post announcing the change on his re-located blog today. He acquired the new domain from friend and fellow domain investor Lonnie Borck and I think, given the subject matter Elliot so ably covers, it is the perfect name for his platform - one that instantly identifies what the site is about while also opening up a lot of new content and growth opportunities

Elliot said, "I believe rebranding as DomainInvesting.com will allow me to expand the audience of my blog, especially to people who are not familiar with the business of investing in domain names. With the continued growth of the domain aftermarket combined with the introduction of new gTLD domain names, I anticipate that there will be an influx of investment capital for domain name assets, and the DomainInvesting.com branding is more suitable for continued growth."

All of the most successful blogs have carved out their own unique identities. Elliot established his by detailing his own experiences in buying, selling and developing domains. No one gives a more personal account of their adventures in domain investing and thankfully that will continue alongside the additional content he plans to provide on what is becoming an increasingly hot area of investing interest.

The new gTLDs Elliot mentioned continue to generate both good news and bad. In the latter category I was sorry to hear the news that  DotGreen Community Inc. has decided to throw in the towel after working for six years toward winning the rights to operate a .green gTLD.

The group's CEO, Annalisa Roger, said there were too many other contenders (with deeper pockets) competing to win the extension for DotGreen Community to have any hope of acquiring it.  Though the TLD is yet  to be awarded their efforts have built up a lot of good will around the extension. The eventual winner of .green might benefit by bringing some of the passionate people from the DotGreen Community aboard when the extension is launched.

One other new gTLD note - 27-year old entrepreneur Daniel Negari, who was profiled in our latest Cover Story, was the one of the first to take advantage of an ICANN promotional video program being built around new gTLD operators. Daniel, the youngest new gTLD applicant, has already secured the rights to operate the .xyz and .college extensions. In the vide0 below he details his plans for .xyz.
